“Now who’s snatching her dream from her?” I muttered.

Nickel glared at me. “Doesn’t matter, we’re out numbered.”

Chapter 21

A Little Less Edgy

Mickayla

When the brothers moved into the room for church, I sat on a couch and Ivy took a seat on an adjacent sofa. She was still eating her breakfast, and I couldn’t stomach another bite because the faint sound of the gavel told me their meeting had started.

Alexandra joined us, and I swore her skin was glowing.

I arched my brows at her. “You must have had a good morning, looking like the cat-who-got-her-cream.”

She rolled her eyes. “I don’t know how Bluff talks me into having a quickie…especially since neither of us likes the idea of having sex when our parents are in the building, but…he definitely makes it worth my while.”

Ivy scrunched her nose up. “But quick? That strikes me as a recipe for serious dissatisfaction.”

Alexandra dipped her chin and her smile became knowing. “Oh, satisfaction isn’t in the duration, it’s in how talented a man can be with his equipment.”

“I suppose,” Ivy said.

“Haven’t you ever had a quickie?” Alexandra asked.

I pointed at Ivy. “Consider your answer wisely, Ivy. And by that I mean, refer to people in your past…you know, not my brother.”

She chuckled. “I’ve had quickies, but they’ve only been with people in my past…and they were lacking all around.”

“You mean not well endowed?” Alexandra asked.

She grinned. “Right. I’ve come to realize that I like my dicks the way I like my books: long, thick, and girthy.”

“That’s redundant,” Alexandra said.

Ivy grinned. “The best part of anything should be repeated, and Ryan’s is—”

“Hello! Cut a woman some slack,” I said.

They both laughed.

Alexandra shot me a smug smile. “At least we made you a little less edgy.”

I shook my head. “That isn’t saying much today.”

“That blow up back in September…did something grow out of that?” Alexandra asked.

I twisted both my hands up. “Once we got back on track, I guess you could say that.”

“I thought he was overbearing?” Ivy asked.

I nodded once. “That day he was, but men get like that when they’re worried about you. A few weeks later, he said he didn’t mean any of it.”

“Any of it? Even the part about you getting a man to sort your shit?” Ivy asked.

My lips tipped up. “Even that. Though, I’m sure in his mind he’s the man for that job.”

Ivy cocked a brow at me. “Why didn’t you share with us Monday night?”
