“Fuck, would you let me finish? Yes, dates. I took her up to Cerulean.”
A smile crosses his face and he opens his mouth to interrupt me again, but stops and holds up his hands, letting me continue.
“I saw her again last night and things were good. I mean really good.”
So good that I fucking fell for it.
“Define good,” he says.
“No.”
“Pussy,” he huffs. Then his eyes grow wide. “Holy shit, you’re acting like—”
“Fuck off.”
Thor crosses by me, opening the door, and sticks his head out. “Logan, can you step away for a sec?”
He leans against the counter, crossing his arms with a stupid-ass grin.
My head drops back and I stare at the ceiling tiles. “I hate you so much,” I say on a sigh.
Logan enters, shutting the door behind him and making the room even smaller than it was before. “What’s up?”
My chin falls, and I loll my head to the side, letting my unamused stare shoot daggers at Thor. These two are a couple of assholes.
Thor’s arm flies out to point at me. “He’s attached.”
“To what?” Logan asks.
“A person! To Anna!”
I glimpse toward Logan in time to see his brows rise.
“No. I’m not.”
Thor cocks a smile. “He took her to his rooftop spot.”
“Whoa.” Logan takes his place next to Thor. This feels suspiciously like they’re teaming up against me.
“Why do you shitbags even care?”
“Because we’re human,” Thor says. “You care, that’s what’s crazy.”
“Can we please focus?” I argue. “I didn’t come in here talking about her. My client no-showed and I’m pissed off.”
“And now you’re trying to figure out if she’s pulling away before it becomes serious,” Logan finishes.
My jaw tightens and I blink at him. “Hypothetically—”
Thor barks out a laugh. “Oh we’re doing hypotheticals, now?”
“Motherfucker, you have a real problem with conversation etiquette.”
Logan nods at me to finish.
“Hypothetically,” I repeat. “If you crossed a line with someone—and it wasn’t a mistake—and then the next day they ghosted you. Does that mean . . .” I know what it means when I do it, and it means I’m not fucking interested in seeing them again.
Thor’s expression softens. “You think she regrets it?”
