Beneath the Quiet Sky

I smiled. “Aren’t you glad you were wrong about the first part?”

She turned in my arms, gazing up at me with those mesmerizingly beautiful eyes as she replied, “More than you’ll ever know.”

Then she kissed me, her curvy body pressing to mine, and my arms tightened around her eagerly. We broke apart, both of us breathless, and Erin grinned as she rested her head on my chest. We stayed like that for a long moment, letting the sounds of the wind and the sea and the cawing birds wash over us.

“Can we take a picture?” she asked, almost shyly.

“Sure.”

“Here,” she said, pulling out her phone. “You take it.”

I put the camera on selfie mode and lifted it high. Erin smiled into the lens while I bent to press a kiss to her cheek before tapping the button. I snapped a couple more, peppering kisses all over her face, and she giggled as I handed it back to her.

“Are you ready to head back down?”

“No, but you said you ordered sushi to be delivered to your office for us when we get back, so I’m letting my hunger energise me,” she said.

I took her hand, lacing our fingers as we started the trek to the bottom. “And after we’re finished with that, I’ll lock the door and give you an orgasm,” I said ever so casually.

“Tristan!”

“What? No self-respecting gentleman is going to leave a lady orgasm-less at the end of a date. I have my reputation to consider.”

She laughed, the light, joyful sound doing something to me. It lifted me up, made life seem bright and hopeful. Fuck, I was in love with her, wasn’t I? I shoved the realisation aside to pick apart later.

“Well, when you put it like that,” she said as we continued our way down.

Making Erin come in my office while the door was locked was becoming a little bit of an addiction.

We were powerless to stop ourselves. It wasn’t my fault that any time I saw her all I wanted to do was pull her into an empty room and make her moan my name. Take that up with the magician in the sky who took extra time creating her, giving her the most perfect breasts I’d ever seen, hips that I could explore for days and a backside it was impossible not to stare at.

It had been five blissful weeks of working alongside one another, taking her to dinner, picnics on the beach, morning hikes and evening strolls. Every morning, I left her coffee and a pastry at her desk because I always came in first.

I’d practically been living at her place. So many times, I convinced myself to take a night off and go home, give her some air to breathe, but inevitably, I broke, calling her to ask if I could come over. Or she’d break and call me. We’d become completely entangled in one another’s lives, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

To top it all off, the Astor Cove’s relaunch was a raving success. Not only had many of the old regulars returned, delighted to see the upgrades to the building, but we’d also enticed a whole host of new guests, too. Our bookings were almost thirty percent higher than what we’d projected for the first year.

I was sitting in my office, trying to focus on composing an email to Becky with a list of things that needed to be done next week, but I kept getting distracted. Only yesterday, Erin had knelt beneath this very desk, undone my pants and taken me into her mouth. There was no man on earth strong enough to resist reliving that experience.

A knock on the door pulled me from my thoughts.

“Come in,” I called, expecting either Becky or my brother, but then the door opened, and Erin walked in. Like always, a smile spread across my face.

“To what do I owe this pleasure?”

I stood and moved across the room before she could even open her mouth, about to pull her into my arms when I saw she was holding something in her hand. She lifted it up and tilted her head. It was the paper airplane I’d left for her.

“I found this on my desk. Are you trying to be cute?”

“Don’t need to try. I’m always cute.”

She laughed and shook her head, unfolding the paper as she read, “Will you do me the honour of accompanying me to my parents’ house for dinner tonight?”

“Well, will you?”

“Of course, but why did you have to ask me by way of a paper airplane? A text would’ve sufficed.”
