“Can you lie with me for a little while, Daddy?” she asks.

“Of course, baby girl.”

I climb onto the bed beside her. Thank fuck I bought her a full-size one because, at my size, squeezing into a twin would be a fucking nightmare.

Aspen curls onto her side, studying me quietly.

“Is Blair your new best friend?”

And here come the questions I’m not ready to answer.

“I suppose so,” I tell her. “Is that okay?”

“Yes.” Aspen nods decisively. “I like her. We should keep her.”

I think so too, kid.

I walk back into the living room and find Blair gathering Aspen’s toys and craft supplies.

“Leave it.”

She glances over her shoulder. “Leave what?”

“All of it.”

Her mouth twitches. “Bossy.”

I close the distance between us. “You’ve been fucking with me since dinner, Morgan.”

“Have I?” she asks innocently.

“Dessert ring any bells?”

Her smile tells me she knows exactly what she’s doing.

“Maybe.”

I lift her and lower her onto the couch, settling between her legs as they wrap around my waist.

“Well, what should we do now, Mr. Ashford?” she asks.

“I have a few ideas.”

I press my mouth to hers, swallowing her laugh as she pulls me closer. Her fingers slide into my hair, tugging just hard enough to drag a groan from me.

“Quiet,” she whispers against my lips. “Pen’s asleep.”

“You’re the one causing it.”

I kiss her deeper, one hand gripping her thigh while the other settles against her waist.

“You’ve been driving me fucking insane all day,” I murmur.

Blair smiles against my mouth. “I’ve barely done anything.”

“That’s the problem.”
