Her hand tightened in my hair. “Enough to terrify a sensible woman.”
“Good thing you aren’t one.”
She bit my lower lip.
I groaned and thrust deeper into her sweet heat.
My control began to fracture. I slid one hand between our bodies and circled her clit with my thumb.
Her magic surged around us again.
“Logan.”
“Come for me.”
I increased the pressure beneath my thumb and drove into her with every ounce of strength I had spent so long afraid to use.
Carolina cried out as her climax seized her. Her body clenched around me, and the pleasure rushing through our bond shattered the last of my control.
I buried myself deep, her name breaking from my lips as release tore through me. The bond caught every sensation and sent it surging between us until her pleasure became mine and mine poured back into her.
Gold and silver light exploded above the altar.
For one breathless moment, we lay tangled together beneath a storm of magic.
Then the sparks drifted down around us and vanished against our skin.
I rested my forehead against hers.
Carolina’s breathing slowed. “That was…”
“Grace,” I said, pressing a kiss to her shoulder. “That was grace.”
She laughed softly. “I’m fairly certain several other things were involved.”
“Talent?”
“Arrogance.”
“I prefer confidence.”
“You would.”
I eased out of her and stretched beside her on the altar. She curled against me while the candles burned lower.
I traced idle patterns across her skin. My fingers moved wherever I sent them, but the simple obedience of my body no longer felt like the most important thing in the room.
“I was wrong about the curse,” I said.
Carolina lifted her head. “How?”
“I thought it took everything from me. It took my balance and made me afraid of my own body, but the worst thing it did was convince me that every failure proved I was worthless.”
“It didn’t.”
“I know that now.”
I touched her cheek.
