“You’re so fucking beautiful,” he breathed, his voice rough with desire. “I need you, Carolina.”

“So are you,” I whispered, my fingers finding the hem of his shirt, pulling it up and off. His chest was pale and perfect, muscled in the way vampires were. He was all cold skin over hard strength. I leaned down to kiss his collarbone, his shoulder, feeling him shiver under my mouth.

He sat up suddenly, wrapping his arms around me, burying his face in my neck. “I don’t want to hurt you,” he murmured, his breath hot against my skin. “I don’t know my own strength anymore, I don’t...”

“You won’t hurt me,” I promised, guiding his hands to the clasp of my bra. “I trust you. I’ve always trusted you.”

We helped each other out of the rest of our clothes. He laid me back against the pillows with a gentleness that made my heart ache. His movements were careful rather than graceful, every shift still deliberate, but there was no pain twisting his face. No failing legs. No mother forcing herself between us. For now, that was enough.

“I love you,” he said, the words rough and honest. “I love you, Carolina. Curse or no curse, coven or no coven, I love you.”

“I love you too,” I whispered, arching up to meet him. “Now show me.”

He settled between my thighs and guided himself to my entrance. The head of his cock pressed against me, and my breath caught at the intimate contact. We had defied my mother, challenged the coven, and sacrificed everything for the right to choose each other.

This was the choice made flesh.

Logan pushed inside me slowly, giving my body time to stretch around him. I gripped his shoulders and gasped as every inch filled me. Pleasure traveled through the bond, carrying his desire into me until I could no longer tell where his need ended and mine began.

“Are you all right?” he asked, his jaw tight with restraint.

“More than all right.” I lifted my hips, taking him deeper. “Stop treating me like I might break.”

His eyes darkened. “You asked for it.”

“I certainly fucking hope so.”

He withdrew almost completely before driving back into me. The force of it tore a cry from my throat. My magic answered, spilling across the sheets in ribbons of gold and silver.

Logan caught my mouth in a hungry kiss. His tongue swept against mine as he began to move, each stroke deeper and harder than the last. I wrapped my legs around his waist and dragged my nails down his back, urging him closer even though there was no space left between us.

The curse tugged at his balance.

His arm trembled, and his knee slipped against the sheets. He froze above me, frustration flashing across his face.

“Don’t,” I said.

“Don’t what?”

“Apologize.”

“I wasn’t going to.”

“You were thinking it very loudly.”

His mouth curved. “Demanding little witch.”

“Clumsy vampire.”

He thrust into me again, wiping the smugness from my face and replacing it with a moan.

“That’s what I thought,” he murmured.

His rhythm quickened. The bed struck the wall with every forceful drive of his hips, but neither of us cared who heard. His hand slid between our bodies, and his fingers found the sensitive flesh above where we were joined.

The first stroke made my entire body tighten.

“Logan,” I groaned.
