“What are you even—” Her eyes widened when she finally realized what we were talking about. “That is…” Irene gasped, slapping a hand over her mouth. “Yara, you fucking—I don’t want to go anywhere near that elevator.”

Enzo and I laughed as Ryden flushed.

“Elevator? What’s wrong with you two? Oh, I know—every fucking thing.” Irene bit into the pizza with a huff.

“She wore a short red dress, and she was with what’s-his-name.” Ryden let out a long sigh. “What was a man to do?”

“Josh was his name,” I said with a smirk. Ryden grunted, looking sullen.

That day at Onyx, Ryden looked so fucking jealous.

Oh, good times.

“Yes.”

“Is he the same Josh you threatened to kill?” Enzo asked, wearing a not-so-innocent smile. “Oh, it is!”

Ryden glared at Enzo.

“What? What did you do?” I looked at Ryden, and he gave me an abashed little smile before looking away from me, shaking his head.

“Nothing.”

And that look—oh, he certainly did something.

“I didn’t do anything,” he said again. “Stop looking at me like that, Red.”

Guilty. So damned guilty.

It was not nothing.

“He broke into Josh’s house—” Enzo started, but stopped when Ryden shot him another glare.

“I didn’t break in,” Ryden said, cutting in. “I rang the bell. He opened the door for me. It was all very, you know, legal.”

“And?” Irene leaned in, eyes wide. “Tell me you did not kill poor Josh. He was certainly boring, but not enough to die.”

“No, no,” Ryden said.

“He only threatened him to never go near you again,” Enzo said.

Fuck. How is this man all mine?

Ryden shrugged, looking very pleased with himself. “I offered him a suggestion. He was quite eager to listen to me.”

“Suggested?” Enzo grunted. “You told the poor guy you’d kill him.”

“I was polite when I said I’d kill him if he went anywhere near her,” Ryden said with a shrug, rubbing the back of his neck.

“I’m just glad you weren’t as nonchalant as you pretended to be,” I said, licking my lips. His eyes darkened. He knew exactly what was going on in my head right fucking now.

“Yara, you…” She looked at me and sighed.

I was starving to get Ryden alone, to fuck him senseless, to fuck him until he lost all reason.

I wanted to take him between my lips and show him, inch by torturous inch, how much hearing that turned me on.

“I wasn’t nonchalant, Red. You know that.” He closed his eyes. “I was anything but nonchalant.”
