My magic perks up. And without knowing how, I know. I just do.

There you are.

I turn my head. Two glowing eyes stare from the shadows at the edge of the parking lot.

Relief hits me so hard I nearly laugh.

My Wolf.

He steps into the fading light.

Slowly.

Silently.

And holy shit.

He looks nothing like the beautiful creature who took chocolate gently from my fingers earlier.

His head is low. Hackles raised. Lips peeled back from enormous white teeth. A rumbling growl rolls across the parking lot.

Coach Williams goes rigid. His head snaps toward the sound.

“What the fuck?”

My Wolf keeps coming. One enormous paw at a time. His gaze isn't on me. It's on Coach.

Specifically, the arm braced over my car door.

“Hey,” I whisper.

The Wolf's ear flicks toward me. But he doesn't look away from Williams.

Coach inhales. His nostrils flare.

Lion Shifter.

Right. He can probably smell exactly what I'm standing next to. Whatever that is.

“What the hell is that thing? It smells off.”

I frown.

“He's a Wolf.”

“I can see that.”

“Then why did you ask?”

Probably not the best time to be a smart-ass. But I'm nervous.

Nervous Aggie gets sarcastic.

Coach lowers his arm. Immediately, the Wolf moves between us.

All several hundred pounds of him.

My Wolf backs against my legs, forcing me behind him.
