Which is also fine.
Completely fine.
We spoke for all of fifteen minutes. He defended me against two disrespectful teenagers, made my knees weak, stared at me like he wanted to devour me, and apparently knew Wulfy well enough to call him Wulfredo without fear of bodily harm.
Then he disappeared.
No big deal.
“So then Wulfy says—Aggie, are you listening to me?”
I blink. Dora is sitting across from me in the faculty lounge, coffee cup halfway to her mouth.
“Of course.”
“What did I just say?”
I take a sip of coffee.
“You said Wulfy did something.”
Her eyes narrow.
“Very convincing.”
“Thank you.”
“Where were you just now?”
“Right here.”
“Liar.”
Why does everyone suddenly know when I'm lying?
I glance at the clock. And nearly cheer.
“Oh, look at that. Recess.”
Dora wrinkles her nose.
“Since when are you excited about recess duty?”
“Since approximately five seconds ago.”
I grab my coffee and stand.
“You still haven't told me what you and Grimm were talking about.”
And there it is. I should've known. Dora has been circling the subject for two weeks.
“He helped me with Randall and Evangeline. That's all.”
“Uh-huh.”
“It is.”
“I caught a glimpse of him talking to Wulfy.”
