I fold my arms.

“That would be refreshing.”

He stops several feet away.

Smart man.

Because I don't know what I want right now.

Part of me wants to close the distance between us. Another part wants to throw one of my shoes at his head.

I think both feelings are valid and deserve proper exploration.

“You disappeared.”

“I know.”

“Don't say that,” I snap.

His brow furrows.

“Don't say you know. I need you to understand what that actually did to me.”

He goes completely still.

Good.

Because now that I've started, apparently we're doing this.

“I woke up alone, Grimm. You bit me, looked like you'd just accidentally triggered the apocalypse, and then I woke up with a headache, a mark on my shoulder, and no idea what the hell had happened.”

His face tightens.

“I know parts of that night are unclear to you. That's because of the curse.”

“There's a curse? Oh, great!”

“There was a curse,” he clarifies, as if that’s any better.

I laugh once. Not because it's funny.

Okay, maybe because it is a little funny.

“What else? Secret wife? Lost kingdom? Evil twin? Because at this point, just give me the whole fairy tale.”

“No wife,” he says, and takes a step closer.

“No evil twin.”

Another step.

“As for a kingdom? Technically, yes.”

He’s so close now I can see the gold glittering in his eyes. I close mine in self-defense.

No one should be that handsome.

“Of course there's a kingdom,” I murmur.
