Murderously fixed on him.

Coach finally releases my arm.

“You threatening me? Do you know who I am?”

Grimm takes one step forward. The crowd parts for him.

Smart, actually. Because he looks like he’s about to explode.

“I don’t care who you are. But if you touch her again,” Grimm says quietly, “ you won't need to ask if I’m threatening you.”

A growl rolls beneath the words.

Coach says something.

I don't hear it.

Because Grimm's gaze finally leaves him and finds me.

The fury in his expression vanishes.

His glowing eyes sweep over my face. My hair. My gown. Every curvy inch of me. And the naked longing that replaces his anger nearly brings me to my knees.

My throat closes. Weeks of hurt crash into weeks of missing him.

Missing my Wolf.

Missing the impossible feeling that something important is just beyond my reach.

But one word rises above all the others. One word I definitely heard.
