The Wolf Prince

I'm a fucking coward.

What can I say?

My confrontation issues aren't going to magically disappear just because Grimm Palermo apparently did.

Coach knocks three times. Then rings the bell. Then knocks again. My phone buzzes with a text.

COACH WILLIAMS:

I know you're home, Maggie.

My stomach knots.

Okay. That's creepy.

I don't answer. Eventually, he leaves.

I remain in the basement for another twenty minutes because dignity is clearly not having a good weekend, either.

Chapter Thirteen

Monday comes.

Then Tuesday.

Wednesday.

Thursday.

The days drag.

Grimm doesn't call. Doesn't text. Doesn't appear mysteriously outside the Academy.

And my Wolf? He also does a disappearing act. And that might hurt even worse.

Every morning when I pull into the faculty parking lot, I wait for that familiar prickle beneath my skin.

That little hum of magic.

There you are.

Nothing.

I bring chocolate anyway. Of course I do.

The first day, I tell myself he's hunting.

The second day, I decide maybe Wolves have territories and he's patrolling his.

By day four, I'm worried.

By the end of the first week, I'm sad.

By the end of the second? I'm pissed at myself for getting attached to a giant black Wolf who technically isn't even mine.

But he felt like mine.

Not in an ownership way.
