“You’re letting me?” Chill sneered.

“You getting old? Ain’t in the habit of repeating myself.”

Ha—I just about smothered a laugh. Oil was clearly baiting Chill and enjoying doing so. Chill, as overprotective of Meadow as Inglorious is of me, was obviously ready to throw down. What stopped him was that Oil indeed was a founder.

The kitchen door opened, and Meadow came through, holding a plate of cookies. She blinked up at Oil, smiled sweetly, and handed it to him. Oil immediately looked straight at Chill and smirked.

I sucked my lips in to stop laughing out loud at Chill’s furious expression.

Meadow glanced over and frowned. “What’s your problem now?” she demanded, crossing her arms.

“You! Babe, you just gave Oil my treats! What the fuck?”

A giggle escaped, and several of the brothers watching chuckled at Chill’s high-pitched, outraged tone.

“No, you assholes don’t get to laugh. This is serious shit. This is about my woman giving that miserable old bastard my shit. She should give me her cookies first, not him.”

Meadow scowled, and I knew what was coming next.

“If you have a problem with me offering Oil food before you, then get ready, babe,” Meadow growled out.

“What’s that meant to mean?” Chill demanded.

“It means, asshole, that I won’t cook you any more baked goods, Chill.” Meadow looked across the rec room as sounds of alarm rose. “Meaning none of you will get any goodies.”

I nearly applauded Meadow there and then. That was one hell of an effective threat. Grumbles around the room escalated into an angry rumble directed at Chill. But he’d never learn, not unless it was the hard way.

He dug in. “Well, if that’s how you feel, babe, then I’ll just withhold sex,” Chill retorted.

“And am I meant to be bothered by this?” Meadow snapped. “It’ll be nice to get a good night’s sleep without disturbance!”

I burst out laughing; I couldn’t stop myself. Meadow had actually gone there. Chill became outraged, and Vortex slapped a hand over his mouth as he started to reply.

“Shut the fuck up!” Vortex snarled. “We’re not losing our baked goods because you’re having a pissing match over not being given the first cookies. Brother, you’ll face all of us in the ring, and we’re going to beat your ass.”

I instantly realised how Chill would react to that, and he turned to Vortex with a smug smirk.

“Is that supposed to be a threat?” Chill demanded immediately.

“Take it how you want to,” Vortex retorted.

Meadow threw fuel on the fire. She saw the newest member of the club enter the rec room and disappeared into the kitchen. Meadow returned with a second plate full of cookies, headed over to Asgard, and handed them to him.

Asgard glanced down, let his gaze drift around the room, paused briefly on Chill, then looked at Meadow.

“You don’t need to keep doing this, you know?” Asgard said.

“It’s a thank you for not killing my idiot man,” Meadow retorted.

Chill made a sound of sheer disbelief, but Meadow didn’t even look at him. Asgard smirked, though he appeared a little uncomfortable. Then, he threw fuel on the fire, bending down to kiss Meadow’s cheek. Before Chill could strangle him, Asgard vanished with his contraband.

I shook my head as the older brothers present looked at Meadow in expectation. Meadow merely lifted an eyebrow and disappeared into the kitchen.

“What the fuck?” Demon exclaimed. “Are they paying her extra or something? Where’s our damn treat?” Moments later, Meadow walked back out, carrying several trays. She glanced at Demon, who wisely shut up as Nightmare elbowed him straight in his ribs.

“Is there a problem?” Meadow asked sweetly.

A chorus of denials echoed around the room as everyone scrambled to cover up for their loudmouth brothers. Many of them looked downright disgusted and alarmed.
