“I also did not treble the size of the maze!” Nanci threw over her shoulder.

“I said it looked bigger!” Inglorious accused.

“Come on, hubby, let’s have some fun!” Nanci waltzed back and linked arms with me. She dragged me along, and we came to a split. Nanci moved left as I tried to go right. Moments later, she shrieked as we found ourselves face to face with a demented scarecrow holding an axe.

“Fuck me!” Nanci yelled and ran off, taking me with her.

“Vortex!” I bellowed, but the scarecrow stepped between us, and I heard him start laughing.

Then, a movie horror legend appeared.

“Freddy!” Inglorious shouted, and he and Vortex took off in the opposite direction. The scarecrow stopped chasing us, and I shook my head as we rounded a corner.

“That took less than five minutes for us to scatter,” I muttered, glancing from side to side.

“Yeah, those big brave men.” Nanci smirked.

“Seriously, I can’t believe they all fled. And Chill is still screaming,” I replied.

“Oh, he’s got his own clown,” Nanci said wickedly. “That’s payback for dragging his heels so long with Meadow.”

“You didn’t?” I asked, gasped, and Nanci grinned.

“I warned him!” she cackled.

Maybe I shouldn’t have laughed, but I did. That was so damn evil. We turned the corner and saw Abyss in front of us.

“Hey!” we called.

He spun and looked relieved. “Where did they all go?”

“They all ran. I’ve no idea where they are,” I replied.

“I was with Nightmare and Moon, but they spotted a pig and fled.”

“A what now?” I asked.

“A guy sporting a pig’s head appeared, and yup… off they went.” Abyss shook his head.

“Well, Chill’s somewhere here screaming like a lunatic,” I said as his voice reached us again. “And that sounded like Hercules.” My eyes widened at the bellow that came from the club’s biggest man.

“Pussy,” Nanci sneered.

“What’s he scared of?” I asked.

“Witches,” Nanci replied. Both Abyss and I sent her disbelieving looks. “No shit. Hercules is petrified of them. The wartier and more hag-looking, the worse he gets.”

“You got the worst one you could, didn’t you?” I demanded.

“Yup!” Nanci grinned.

Widowmaker

My road name had been given to me for a reason, but it didn’t help when we were locked in Nanci’s version of a mindfuck. So far, I’d had a few jump scares, but nothing major. Yet my gut warned me Nanci and Phoe would screw with me. I’d seen the past ones, and Phoe alone was diabolical; together, they belonged to the devil.

“Widowmaker…” A soft voice sent chills up my spine.

“Meadow?” I called, unsure who it was and praying it was one of the club women.
