I pulled backwards, letting go of his finger with a wet pop.

“What exactly is this agreement you have come to?” I asked carefully as Rythos stood from the ground, towering over me, his large abdominal muscles shifting with every movement.

Helion crossed the room in slow even strides until he stood next to the commander, his dimples deepening as I felt warmth spread along my cheeks, staining them crimson beneath the muted light at the depraved thoughts running through my mind.

“One where you do not have to choose.”

Helion held out his hand, and I stared at it for a moment before I hesitantly placed my hand into his and let him pull me to my feet between them.

Rythos’ hand spread across my waist possessively as he dragged me towards his body.

“Who do you want right now, Little Drownling?” he murmured as he dropped his lips to my ear, voice dropping to a low growl.

A trembling breath slipped from my lips as Helion pressed closer behind me, threading his fingers through my hair and gathering the silver mess of waves over my shoulder. “We could take turns,” Helion whispered against my skin, dark amusement curling through his voice.

This was wrong.

I should have pushed them both away, but the twisted, depraved part of me melted against them, letting their hands roam my body at the same time.

“No,” I breathed, my voice shaking as a warm shiver unfurled through me.

Rythos went completely still at the word, and Helion’s grip tightened in my hair.

I was going to die to save them. To save the kingdoms from a curse a version of me had created.

Did I not deserve a small piece of happiness before the cold embrace of death?

Heat coiled low in my stomach, my pulse pounding violently inside my chest.

“I want both of you,” I whispered. “At the same time.”

Chapter Forty-Two

Between Light and Dark

Lyra

Helion chuckled against my neck, the sound vibrating into my back as he caged me against Rythos’ chest.

“Can you handle us both, love?” Rythos murmured, gripping my chin between his thumb and forefinger and tilting my face towards his, extending my neck further for Helion. His blackened gaze held mine even as Helion’s lips moved against my skin, kissing my neck in a way that made my toes curl against the hardwood.

There was no anger in his voice. No jealousy twisting through the bond between us. Only the slow, unmistakable burn of his arousal as he watched Helion touch me, tangling with the golden warmth pulling beneath my ribs until my entire body seemed caught somewhere between them.

Between light and dark, and somehow, I belonged perfectly in the space between them.

“Yes,” I all but moaned, scared that this was some twisted dream that I would wake up from.

My skin hummed with their arousal, drinking it in with such need a gasp tore out of me.

“Fuck,” Helion moaned against my skin, his hardness pressing into my lower back. “You’re glowing, Sunshine.”

I lifted my hand from Rythos’ chest, marvelling at the glowing iridescent sheen of my porcelain skin.

Rythos gripped my borrowed button-down, undoing the buttons with skilled fingers. Helion reached around me, pulling the material over my shoulders and leaving my exposed nipples to pebble against the cool air.

Gods, this was really happening.

The moment my shirt pooled at my feet, Rythos was on me.
