Records connected to my past are missing.

Electronics are malfunctioning.

The attic door was carved from the outside.

I stop. Was it? I don't actually know.

Rhett notices immediately.

"You hesitated."

"I ‘m not sure if that's true."

He nods.

"Then don't write it."

I cross it out. He's right. Facts only. No assumptions.

Morrow leans forward.

"I have one."

"I always knew I was supposed to find someone."

The pen stops moving.

"What?"

He shrugs helplessly.

"I can’t say why."

Rhett and I exchange a glance. Neither of us wants to influence the answer.

"I used to have dreams," Morrow continues.

"The same dream over and over."

"What happened?"

"I'd be walking through fog."

He closes his eyes briefly.

"There was a house."

My stomach tightens.

"What kind of house?"

"A little one."

He opens his eyes again.

"With flowers."

I feel every muscle in my body go rigid. Rhett notices.
