Evidence.
People.
A cold rage moves through me.
“Can it be opened from outside?” Ben asks.
“Yes.”
“How?”
“There’s a manual release beneath the starboard propeller guard.”
“Is it alarmed?”
“Yes.”
“Can you disable the alarm?”
Marcus looks toward the ruined control room inside the dry dock.
“From here.”
Ben follows his gaze.
“The controls survived the explosion?”
“The primary system didn’t. The maintenance terminal may have.”
Piers finds it behind a collapsed steel cabinet. The screen is cracked, but a small green light remains on beneath it.
Marcus gives him a series of commands to enter.
The terminal flickers.
A diagram of the Argent Star appears.
“You can see the ship from there?” Keating asks.
“Simon’s modifications are connected to the dry-dock system for testing and repair.”
Marcus directs Piers through another screen.
“Diving chamber alarm is active.”
“Disable it,” Ben orders.
“I need a password.”
“You worked for Simon for six years.”
“He changed the passwords every week.”
“Can you bypass it?”
“Maybe.”
“We have twenty minutes,” Marquez says.
