Caspian: The Not So Friendly Ghost

Tynessa’s lips were pressed together so tightly she was practically vibrating from trying not to scream with laughter. At the bottom of the flyer, written in huge, elegant script, were the words:
Hosted by Willow Monroe.
That heifer.
I handed Tynessa her phone back, my voice dangerously calm. “What in the entire hell is my sister on? When did she send this out?”
“Last night. I got the blast around eight o’clock.”
“Un-fucking-believable.”
Tynessa cleared her throat. “I take it you didn’t approve this?”
“No.”
“Oh.”
“Not one damn bit.”
I inhaled slowly through my nose, forcing my composure back into place.
There was no reason for me to go off on Tynessa. She hadn’t done anything wrong except unknowingly expose my sister’s complete lack of common sense.
I forced a polite smile. “Well, thank you for letting me know.”
“No problem, girl.”
“Actually, can I take a quick picture of that with my phone?”
“Of course.”
She held her screen out again, and I snapped a crystal-clear screenshot of the entire flyer… especially the little arrogant signature at the bottom where Willow had written her name like she held the legal deed to the estate.
“Thank you,” I said, locking my screen.
Tynessa laughed nervously. “Girl, don’t be too hard on her.”
“No promises.”
She smiled warmly. “Well, I better get back to my unit before my supervisor looks for me. We definitely need to do lunch sometime and catch up properly.”
“I would love that.”
“Good. Let me grab your number.”
We quickly exchanged contacts, and I saved her name in my phone.
“Don’t disappear on me now, Lakelyn.”
“I won’t.”
“Good. I’ll text you this weekend so we can pick a day.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
She gave me one last quick hug. “It really was wonderful seeing you, girl. Good luck with the job offer!”
“Thank you so much.”
