My body heats as his gaze slides back up. “Are you cold?” he asks.

I cover my boobs with my arms. “Mitch!”

His eyebrows rise. “What? No! You’ve got goose bumps on your arms.”

I stare at him, and then we both start laughing.

“Emma said Ollie would lead you astray,” I scold.

“Totally his fault.” He looks at my mouth. “You smell of mint.”

“I’ve brushed my teeth. Do you need to drink some water?”

“Mm, probably. In a minute.” He continues to look at me with his intense, hot eyes.

I swallow hard. “Are you going to be all right, or do you need a bucket beside the bed?”

He gives me a wry look. “I’m not drunk. Just mellow.”

“That’s one word for it.” I nibble my bottom lip, watching his gaze drop to it. “Did you have a fun time?”

“Ollie said I was ‘extremely dull’ because I only talked about one thing.”

“Teaching?”

He tips his head to the side. “No. You.”

I blink. “Ohhh…”

“I told them I kissed you.”

“Oh. Um. And what did they say?”

“Jake said ‘about time.’ Ollie said I should do it again to make sure.”

“To m-make sure of what?”

He moves closer to me, pressing me up against the sink. Ooh, he’s all tall and broad and muscular. I rest my hands on his chest, and I can feel the heat of his body through his tee.

“I can’t remember,” he says, lifting a hand to cup my face.

“Maybe we should wait until you’re sober.”

“I’m not drunk.”

“You’re mellow, I know.”

“God, you’re beautiful.” He lifts his other hand to hold my face. “You look amazing,” he states. “All soft and warm and bed cozy. Jesus, I’m just crazy about you.” He moves closer, and this time, I don’t stop him as he bends his head and kisses me.

He tastes of whisky, and he kisses like a god. He wraps his arms around me, then presses me up against the sink as he kisses me deeply.

Ohhh… wow… I lift my arms around his neck and slide my hands into his hair, and he murmurs his approval and strokes up my back and around my ribs. He sighs, tipping his head the other way to change the angle of the kiss. Our tongues tangle, and a soft moan escapes me as I lean against him, enjoying every second of being so close.

When he eventually draws back, he pulls me toward him for a long hug.

I nestle against him, trying not to think about anything except the fact that he’s holding me, and I love being close to him.

“It’ll all work out,” he says. “You’ll see.”
