“I miss you too.”
“By the way, how did it go with Brett? Did you guys do anything?”
“I can’t really talk about it right now. I’ll talk to you later.”
“Okay.”
We hang up, and I sneak a peek at Brett. I can tell he’s trying not to laugh.
“Were you listening to my conversation?”
“To your side of it.” He grins. “Why? What’s going on?”
“Nothing. The girls were wondering where I was.”
“Why didn’t you tell them you were in my bed, eating pancakes before I make love to you again?”
“Because I can’t have them knowing. Brett, this is too much. This is way, way too much.”
“Why is it too much?”
“Friends with benefits don’t make each other pancakes.”
“Well, I guess I won’t make you pancakes again.”
My phone beeps, and I look down. Marcus’s name is on the screen. Brett sees it, too, and he shifts back, grimacing before replacing the annoyed look with one of neutrality.
“If you want to call him, feel free,” he grunts.
“I’ll call him later. He probably wants to tell me more about the audition.”
“Or he wants to ask you out again.”
“Maybe, but …”
“But what?”
“But it’s unlikely I’ll go.”
“Don’t not go on my account if you really think you like him.”
“I don’t really think I like him. You know this.” I push the plate aside, grab Brett by the arm, and pull him down toward me. “You can’t act jealous and goofy. You know that, right?”
“I’m not jealous, and I’m not goofy,” he grunts. “I’ll have you know, I’m a former Navy SEAL.”
“Yeah, well, it seems to me even former SEALs can be a little possessive at times.”
“I’m not possessive,” he grunts and then presses his lips against mine. His fingers trail across my nipples, and then he leans down and sucks on my breasts. His eyes blaze into mine, and he chortles. “Okay, maybe I’m a little possessive. I don’t like to share.”
“I don’t like to share either,” I say, reaching down and stroking his cock.
“So, I guess that means we have a deal,” he says.
“What’s the deal?”
“We’re fucking each other. We don’t fuck anyone else.”
I never intended to sleep with anyone else while I was sleeping with him. Not that I’m going to tell him that.
