Easton and I are having the small wedding ceremony we wanted, and I can’t wait to tell him everything I love about him in front of everyone we know.
I scrunch up my nose. “Well, on second thought…”
Pulling me into his side so I don’t squish our daughter resting on his shoulder, he holds me possessively. “No take backs. You’re technically already married to me, remember?”
“Trust me, Easton. I’m not going anywhere.” Leaning forward, I press my lips to his.
He pulls me into his body, where I feel his length grow hard between us. “Good. I wouldn’t let you get away from me again anyway, even if you tried.”
Feeling how turned on he is makes me even more desperate to be alone. After getting the all-clear from my doctor a few weeks ago, Easton and I wasted no time resuming our physical relationship, though adjusting to my new body has been difficult. Easton doesn’t seem fazed, and if we aren’t careful, we might have another baby sooner than planned.
Easton is also in the process of starting his own telecom company. Once he told me about his vision and all of the services he could provide in Garnet Valley and beyond, I thought it was a great idea. So, his focus is on that right now, and mine is on passing my test to officially get my nursing license.
As far as me working, I’m not sure how soon I want to pursue that. Presley is still so young, but Elodie’s mom did say she has a spot reserved for her in her daycare as soon as I’m ready to enter the workforce again, so at least I don’t have to stress about childcare.
I feel like I’ll know when the time is right, and the hospital assured me they’ll be ready and eager for me when I make that decision.
“Speaking of disappearing, have you seen Nora?” I scan the room for my little sister, who’s been acting stranger than usual lately. She and Ginny have both been odd, so I wonder if they’re off somewhere together.
Easton shakes his head. “No. I know she’s here though because she rode over with Blair.”
“Exactly. Well, I’m gonna try to find her.” I press one more kiss to his lips, and then saunter off in search of my baby sister.
She offered to order NCLEX study guides for me, and I want to know when they’ll arrive. I’ll start studying during next week’s downtime so I’m prepared for the August test date.
I walk into the kitchen, only to find she’s not there. I search the backyard, but also come up empty-handed.
Needing to use the bathroom, I head down the hall before continuing my search. But when I turn the knob and open the unlocked door, the last thing I expect is my little sister making out with Jett Thurston, one of the newest firefighters at Dad’s station.
She pushes him away from her like he’s on fire as they both reach up to fix their hair and wipe their mouths.
My gaze darts between the two of them. “Nora?”
She looks between me and Jett. “It’s—it’s not what it looks like.”
“And what exactly is it supposed to look like?”
“We’re just practicing.”
“Practicing for what?”
“For when I kiss Crew.” She looks over at Jett and then back at me.
“Uh, I’m gonna let you two talk.” Jett slides past me in the doorway, leaving my little sister and me alone.
I shut the door behind me and lower my voice. “What the hell is going on, Nora?”
My little sister buries her face in her hands. “I—I don’t know, Lennon. I’m so confused.”
“Did you mean what you said about Jett helping you practice for Crew? You know they both work for our father, right?”
“Yes, Lennon. I’m aware.”
“Okay, I’m just checking because if Dad had walked in here instead of me, he definitely would have lost his shit.”
“Well, I wanted to date Crew, so I’d have to talk to him eventually…”
“Wanted? As in, not anymore?”
“I don’t know.”
“Does this have to do with the fact that I just caught you making out with Jett in the bathroom like you were doing something wrong, but really fucking liked it?”
She shrugs. “It’s supposed to be fake…a friend helping out a friend.”
“Sorry, Nora. But nothing about the way that man was kissing you looked fake.”
