Ruled By Wizard

Aware that Doom had come to stand behind him—and that every Last Rider in the club had gone quiet—Wizard linked his hands behind his back to keep from crushing the gangly pipsqueak into a basketball and bouncing his skinny ass out the fucking door.

“Walk away,” Doom muttered softly.

Wizard ignored him. Seeing Natalia look at Raff the way he’d wanted her to look at him since the moment he had first laid eyes on her made him feel as if he were walking barefoot over hot coals. It took everything he had to keep from spending the rest of the night in jail, because there was no fucking way Raff was leaving with Wizard’s soon-to-be woman.

“I thought you were smarter than that.” Wizard gave Raff a death glare that would have sent any of the brothers running for cover. “I mean, you just met him. Raff’s not a Last Rider, so none of us can vouch for him.”

Natalia’s flirtatious expression vanished as she looked from Raff to Wizard, turning his balls to ice. “I consider myself very smart,” she said icily. “Smart enough not to give any importance to anyone—or anything—The Last Riders vouched for. Especially you. I’m an excellent judge of character. Raff told me he isn’t a Last Rider yet, which is a bonus for me. At least if I have sex with him, it won’t be like having sex with you, who has the morals of an alley cat.” She turned fully toward him, her fury palpable. “Nor would I have to lie back and listen to you decide who else gets to share my body so you can win a bet for a cut-rate deal on a septic tank.”

CHAPTER 9

WIZARD’S RULES

Satisfied that she had given Wizard the humiliation he deserved, Natalia turned back to Raff. “You coming?”

Raff looked as if he were about to pass out, his eyes darting between her and Wizard. “Maybe some other time,” he croaked out.

She wasn’t surprised. As she’d told Wizard, she was a good judge of character. She’d known Raff wouldn’t be brave enough to stand up to him once Wizard started throwing his weight around.

Natalia gave him a casual shrug. “Maybe some other time.”

She glanced toward the bar, where Arden stood with a confused expression on her face. “See you tomorrow.”

After giving Wizard one last disdainful glare, she pivoted and headed out the door.

She had made it only two steps into the parking lot when she heard footsteps coming after her.

“Wait a fucking minute!”

Despite the darkness, she abruptly turned to face him. Wizard came to a stop when he saw her waiting.

“You have something to say?” she prompted when he remained silent.

Anger and confusion were plainly visible on his face. “I’m trying to figure out how you found out.”

This guy has the brainpower of a snail, she thought. When his angry frown climbed higher on his forehead, she assumed he had read the pity in her expression.

“Does it matter?”

“Yes, it fucking matters. Especially since whoever told you left out that I was dead-ass tired and half-drunk when I made the bet. They also didn’t tell you that I called it off when I woke up this morning.”

“Smart move, since you didn’t have a chance in hell of winning that stupid bet, anyway!”

Hearing smothered laughter, Natalia glanced toward the doorway. The men watching them immediately went stone-faced when Wizard turned toward them.

“Go inside!” he snapped.

They obeyed without hesitation.

“Does everyone jump when you tell them to?”

“Yes.”

Natalia rolled her eyes. “Jesus. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to join this club badly enough to put up with you.”

“Look around the parking lot. We don’t lack for new recruits, and guess what? Most of them join because I’m the president.”

“Then I feel sorry for them.”
