“Don’t lie to us, sweet princess,” Castor sighs.
“What do you mean not yet?” I snarl.
Eden shakes her head, but Castor explains before she can. “When Eden first arrived at the manor and I ‘tormented’ her, your innocent princess enjoyed my teasing a lot more than she would ever admit.”
“I did not,” she argues.
“So it was another blonde princess that rubbed her pussy against my hand, was it?” he chuckles as she turns pink. “You never ran to my brother for help because you liked what I was doing to you. You liked me!”
“Is this true?” I don’t need to ask. Deep down, I already know it is.
Her lower lip wobbles. “I liked you both.”
I scoff. “You cannot—”
“I liked how you were so kind to me, how you looked after me and always knew how to make me feel better.” Her big blue eyes gaze into mine. “And yes, I suppose I also liked what he did… a little.”
My heart cracks. “So you would rather be with him?”
“No!”
“I can’t lose you, Eden.” I clutch her waist. “I can’t lose anyone else.”
“You won’t lose me.” She kisses me softly, pressing her hands against my jaw. “And I will not be the reason you lose your brother either.”
Castor draws closer to us. “I won’t take her from you, Lux. We can share. Just like we always have.”
I don’t think I can stand to even look at him right now, but before I can tell him that, another set of footsteps thunders up the stairs, followed by another, and another.
“Shit.” I drag Eden back against the wall. “Stay behind us.”
Castor draws his sword, glaring at the staircase. “If we’re outnumbered, you grab Eden and get her out of here. Don’t worry about me.”
I’m about to argue, but then I stop. If something happened to Castor, Eden would be heartbroken, yes, but she’d be completely mine again.
No more sharing. No more worrying that I’ll lose another woman I love. And I’d help her get over him. I’d help her feel so good, she wouldn’t ever need to think about him agai—
Bile rises in my throat. What the fuck am I thinking? I can’t abandon my brother.
Drawing my sword, I keep Eden behind us while standing at his side. “We’re getting out of here together. All three of us.” My knuckles turn white around the hilt as Castor braces himself with me.
But there was no need.
Meera charges up the stairs, her eyes widening as she notices us.
Huffing out a laugh, I almost put away my sword until a familiar dark-haired guard sprints up after her, followed by a young woman with ruby-red hair.
“Don’t hurt them!” Eden yells. She darts in front of us before we can stop her. “Please, no more fighting!”
“Eden, get away from them,” the red-haired woman growls. “Look what they did to poor Meera. They’re monsters!”
“They’re not, Ami. I promise it was just a misunderstanding!” Eden cries as the realisation hits me.
Ami… That’s Princess Amaryllis, and beside her is the assassin she ran away with.
“I knew you were too strong to be one of Sol’s guards,” Castor chuckles.
But the assassin doesn’t laugh with him. “Get the fuck away from my fiancée’s sister, and I might make this painless for you.”
