Dante slowly began unbuttoning his shirt as he gazed at the little one.
Carver raised a brow. “Undressing already? Damn, buy a guy dinner first, huh?”
“That’s exactly what I’m doing,” Dante responded.
“What do you mean?” When Carver scrunched up his brows like that it was adorable. Who was Dante kidding? He was pretty sure anything Carver did Dante would find it cute and perfect.
“How long has it been since you’ve fed properly?” Dante asked.
Carver cut his eyes to the side.
That was what Dante had suspected. Had the boy ever been fed properly? If he had it would have been a very long time ago. “You’re going to feed from me.”
Carver reared his head back. “What?”
“I know you’re hungry,” Dante said. The boy pulsed with need. “I’m here and willing to feed you.”
“I can do that?” Carver asked in wonder. “Feed from another vampire?”
The little one should be feeding from his sire. Carver should know this. “How have you been feeding?”
“I stole blood bags once,” Carver said. “Mostly I have friends who allow me to… It’s not as easy as I thought it would be. I…can’t bite them. They have to cut themselves for me. I don’t like for them to do that.”
“Baby boy.” Dante’s heart broke for his little one. “It’ll be okay now. Daddy is here. I’ll fix everything.”
“I don’t believe you,” Carver whispered. Those green eyes sparked with need but quickly cleared and filled with doubt. “You’re just saying that so you get whatever you want from me.”
“I don’t want anything right now except to feed you.”
Carver snorted as he slowly shook his head.
“I’ll prove myself,” Dante vowed. Even if he wasn’t interested in his little vampire, which he was, Dante would assign someone to care for him. This boy, however, would be Dante’s top priority. “Just give me time to prove myself.”
He tugged the bottom of the shirt from his slacks then folded the sides over, revealing his chest.
Carver hummed and licked his lips.
Before they did this, Dante wanted just one little thing. Gently cupping Carver’s cheek, Dante lowered his own mouth. His fangs were extended—he couldn’t help being turned on with this precious boy in his lap—so he carefully pressed his lips to Carver’s.
Releasing the softest whimper, Carver parted his lips, allowing Dante access to slip his tongue inside.
Dante swiped his tongue deep, tasting the boy for the first time. It wouldn’t be the last. He pulled away.
Carver opened his eyes slowly, revealing the glowing green tinted with desire. That was exactly what Dante had been looking for.
“Can you feed, precious boy?” Dante asked. He wanted to get at least some blood into the boy now. He’d take him home and get him healthy in no time. Then find the boy’s sire and take care of that problem personally.
Priorities though. Dante needed to get some blood into Carver.
“Are you sure it’s okay?” Carver asked while running his fingers gently across Dante’s pec.
“The older the vampire, the more powerful the blood. You can’t get older than me around here,” Dante assured him.
Carver leaned forward, breathing deep, no doubt smelling the blood pumping through Dante’s veins. “But I can’t bite you, remember? My fangs don’t work.”
“They work fine.” Dante tapped his little one’s lips. “They are just baby fangs for my baby boy. They’ll grow.”
“They will?”
