Finally, I turn to Bowen and hold out my hand for him to pass me the headlamp.

But he’s dressed, too, zipping up his hiking pants. “I’m coming with you. I’m not letting you go out alone in the middle of the night.”

My belly swoops at the declaration. He’s the most protective, attentive guy I’ve ever met. Now, at two a.m., in the darkness, he’s getting up to walk me to the toilet.

I grab his wrist and tug him closer for a kiss.

He lets me maneuver him and smiles against my lips. “You okay?”

“Yeah,” I breathe. “Never better.”

I crawl out of the tent—and stop.

Because the sky is clear and studded with thousands of brilliant stars winking down at us. A soft silver glow on one side has me thinking the moon might be setting behind the fir trees.

“Oh, wow.” I crane my neck and turn in a circle to take it all in. “This is incredible. I’ve never seen so many stars.”

I want to stay and admire them, but nature’s calling, so I hustle for the bathroom with Bowen ambling behind me. He waits for me outside, and when we’re both done, we return to the lake to wash our hands.

“They’re even reflected in the water,” I whisper, watching the lake settle under the starry sky. “I can’t believe I’ve never taken the time to watch the stars like this.”

Bowen wraps his arms around me from behind. “Next summer, I’ll take you to see the Perseids. It’s a meteor shower, and it’s pretty damn amazing to experience.”

I settle back. “Next summer?”

He bends down to kiss my neck. “And the next. And the one after that, too.”

My eyes well with tears at the realization that he means it—he’s as serious about this as I am.

I turn around in his arms and put my hands on his cheeks. “I love you.”

The words slip from my lips, born of this moment, yes, but also the product of a deep-seated knowledge that this is it. A once-in-a-lifetime meeting of two souls that belong together.

Even in the darkness, I see Bowen’s smile. “Yeah? I love you, too, Lainey. So fucking much.”

He dips down for a kiss that starts off gentle but swiftly turns carnal.

“It was all over for me the moment I heard your voice over the phone,” he rumbles between kisses. “Then I saw you—and I knew.”

I shiver from pleasure as he cups my ass and lifts me.

“I want you in my life.” He carries me back to the tent. “Every day. Waking up with you. Raising kids.”

“Yes.” I kiss him again, even though it might slow us down. “To all of that. Forever.”

Bowen

Waking up next to Lainey is officially my new favorite thing. My future wife crawled on top of me this morning, letting me feel how wet she was for me, then crawled lower to take my cock in her mouth.

It took all of my self-control not to come the moment she sucked on me, but I lasted as long as I could, then pulled her up again—because I wasn’t going to waste any of my cum on a blow job if I had the option of coming in her sweet pussy.

We discovered Lainey loves riding me, and I intend to coax her into doing that more often. Seeing her full tits bounce with every slide…it changed me.

Now we’re packed, and the camping ground has been returned to its previous pristine state. All our trash is in a bag in Lainey’s backpack because she insisted on carrying her fair share. I let her stuff her pack full of our gear, then removed a few of the heaviest pieces while she went to the bathroom for the last time.
