Inexplicable

I gazed down at Jenna, satisfied when I saw that her eyes were closed. She’d slid right back into her regular sleep pattern, which was pretty normal after a sleepwalking episode.

She should sleep until morning.

It was unusual for a person to sleepwalk more than once in the same night.

Content that I’d done everything I could to prevent Jenna from hurting herself, I got back into the bed and turned off the lamp.

Jenna let out a little moan and rolled into my body like a heat-seeking missile that wanted to find its target.

I gritted my teeth as she wrapped an arm around my upper body and buried her face in my neck with a sexy sigh.

It wasn’t that I didn’t enjoy her warm breath on my neck or the feel of her soft body against mine.

Unfortunately, I enjoyed it too damn much.

I wrapped my arm around her waist to keep her exactly where she was right now.

Maybe I was a masochist, but I wanted her to stay close to me even though it made my dick as hard as nails.

I tried to tell myself that it was the perfect solution for her sleepwalking. If she tried to get up, I’d know it, but that explanation was bullshit.

I’d wanted to be close to Jenna like this from day one, and having her in my bed gave me a primitive satisfaction that I’d never felt before.

In my mind, she was exactly where she fucking belonged, and that was a conclusion I definitely didn’t want to analyze.

Never, in my forty years on this damn earth, had I been a possessive kind of guy.

I’d never wanted to lay claim to a woman.

Now, here I was, at an older and wiser age, knowing I could probably completely lose my shit over the female I was holding in my arms.

Maybe that should disturb me, but it didn’t.

I was more interested in keeping her safe and happy than denying how I felt anymore.

I knew I had zero chance of changing those tendencies, so why waste my energy on something I had no hope of fighting?

I closed my eyes and savored the feel of her warm breath on my skin and the soft weight of her in my arms.

There was a feeling of rightness in those sensations that I couldn’t even begin to explain.

The restlessness I’d been feeling since the day I’d read her bio and seen her picture was inexplicably waning.

I must have drifted off because the next thing I remembered was Jenna pulling away from me.

“Brock?” she queried softly.

I opened my eyes and realized it was actually morning.

The sun was streaming in through the blinds.

I hadn’t expected to sleep much after Jenna’s sleepwalking episode, but I’d obviously slept better than I’d anticipated.

Judging by our positions, Jenna and I had barely moved.

My arm tightened reflexively to keep her from moving away from me.

“Good morning,” I said as I turned my head to meet her gaze.
