Jax’s jet was just as comfortable as Wyatt’s, with plenty of spaces to relax.

I’d slept through the first hour of our flight back to Michigan because the doctor had insisted on a painkiller for the journey home, but I was getting sick of sleeping.

I hadn’t really been able to talk to Jenna much while we were in the hospital because of my surgery and the damn pain medication.

She was reading right now, and I smirked as I realized she was reading my latest book.

She looked completely engrossed in the story, her face filled with tension as her eyes moved over the words.

Hell, she really was a Brady Savage fan.

I could honestly say that she’d gained a fan of her blog, too. I’d read some of her recent blog posts during the short periods when I was coherent in the hospital, and I could see why people were drawn to her writing.

She had a way of pulling people in, even if they weren’t versed in science.

She wrote in simple language, putting random questions out there that most ordinary people had probably asked about the universe at some point in their lives.

She answered the questions she could in easy-to-understand words and threw out possibilities for questions that couldn’t definitively be answered.

Her writing invoked a sense of fascination and wonder from the reader, and it was no wonder that people kept coming back for more.

I was completely hooked, and I knew very little about the conundrums of the universe.

I was now one of her fascinated readers, and I knew I’d eventually read every blog that Jenna had ever written.

That would probably take a while since she’d been writing that blog for years.

Jenna suddenly turned her head, like she’d somehow sensed that I was awake and watching her.

She closed her book immediately. “Are you okay? Do you need something?”

Christ! I hated the distressed look on her face every time she looked at me right now.

I had a gunshot wound to my shoulder. I wasn’t going to die.

I held up my hand. “I’m fine. Read.”

Hell, I kind of enjoyed her fussing over me, but I didn’t want her to jump to take care of me every time she saw me.

I already felt like a fraud for using my injury as an excuse to spend more time with her.

Jenna needed to recover both emotionally and physically herself, and she’d been trying to take care of me since we’d boarded Jax’s private jet. I had everything I needed on the coffee table. She’d made sure of that before I’d fallen asleep.

She scrunched her nose adorably. “Are you sure?”

“Yeah,” I assured her. “Judging by how far you’ve read, you’re probably getting to the interesting parts of the book.”

She smiled at me. “It’s a fantastic story. I love them all, but this is one of my favorites. I just want to finish this chapter.”

I grinned back at her. “Then keep reading. We have another few hours to fly.”

I watched as she opened the novel, my eyes moving to her injuries once she was absorbed in the book again.

Jenna insisted she was all good, but I knew damn well that her ribs and her head had to hurt.

Her bruises were starting to heal, but the staples in her scalp had to be painful.

And she still insisted on taking care of me?
