And I hadn’t been able to say a word.
She knew that I knew where they’d gone and what they were doing.
I’d tried to act ignorant, but she was smart. She hadn’t bought that innocent act for a single moment.
I was a terrible liar.
She hadn’t asked me directly, but she knew.
I had a distinct advantage since Marshall and his partners had kept me well-informed about how my man was doing while he was gone.
The guilt I’d felt about having information and not sharing it with Sara when she was that upset had nearly killed me.
“You’re right,” Brock agreed. “It isn’t fair to put you in that position. You and Sara are close. I’ll talk to Nate. It won’t happen again. We’ll tell her before the next mission comes up. Are you really okay with me leaving for Last Hope?”
I smiled at him. “No. I’m going to worry every time you go. You got shot when you rescued me. I’ll never forget that. But I’d never ask you not to go. The world needs Last Hope. I’ll deal with it as long as you keep coming home to me.”
His eyes met mine, and the intensity in his gaze mesmerized me.
I’d missed him so much.
He’d only been gone for two nights, and I’d been tied up in knots for those two nights.
It had been the first operation he’d done since my rescue.
It was never going to be easy to see him go, but I’d never keep him from doing something that he needed to do.
I’d take a few days of worry to be in a relationship that made me ecstatically happy. What woman wouldn’t?
He cocked a brow. “Did you miss me?”
“You know I did,” I said softly as I stared into his eyes. I’d thrown myself into his arms as soon as he’d come through the door, and he’d held me tightly and kissed me like we’d been apart for months.
“Fuck!” he cursed. “I missed you, too, but I stink. Let me get in the shower and then I’ll show you how much I missed you.”
My eyes widened. “I’ll look forward to that.”
I knew Brock was probably tired, and heat flooded between my thighs because I knew that his need for me was greater than his need for sleep right now.
“You make me crazy,” he grumbled as he shucked out of his camo pants and then his boxer briefs.
He’d gotten rid of his boots and socks near the laundry room when he’d first entered the house.
My breath left my lungs as I stared at Brock Miller in all his naked glory.
I’d probably never get used to seeing this gorgeous man nude.
His tightly muscled body and tight ass were every woman’s fantasy.
He had a few scars from his years of risking his life for his country, including the one on his shoulder from the gunshot wound he’d gotten from rescuing me.
But with a badass body like his, there was no possible way any woman with a heartbeat would notice those scars. They’d be too captivated by his ripped body and those well-done tattoos.
I knew I was staring at him like I wanted him to fuck me senseless, but he should be used to that by now.
My gaze slid down to his massive cock, and I swallowed hard.
He was fully erect, and my core clenched hard in reaction.
