“But it was a really amazing few minutes,” I told him teasingly.

“That it was, sweetheart,” he said as he slapped my ass playfully.

God, I’d missed this so much.

Sometimes I missed him so damn much that it was hard to breathe.

I love him.

The truth crept into my being as I finally admitted to myself that I was completely and utterly in love with the hottest man on the planet.

I probably had been in love with Brock since Michigan, but it had taken me a while to process those emotions.

I actually trusted this man with my heart now.

It was exhilarating.

It was exciting.

And it was just a little bit scary.

I squeezed him tight, hoping fervently that someday he’d feel the same way about me.

Chapter 27

Brock

Iwondered what excuse I could use to visit California in January as I took a break from my writing to get a water from the kitchen.

It was only the first week of January.

Jenna had just left after her two-week stay for the holidays, and I was already thinking about when I’d see her again.

Fuck! How much longer could I live through this long-distance thing?

Having Jenna here for the holidays had been fucking magical, but I was suffering now that she was gone.

I’d had the best holiday season I’d ever known.

Jenna had sweetly complained about the amount of gifts I’d given her, but I knew she’d had an amazing holiday season, too. I’d made damn sure that she did.

I was in love with my stargazer, and I wished that I’d said those words at Christmas when I’d had the chance to say them in person.

Hell, I’d loved her since the beginning, but I was trying to give her time to get used to having a guy who was obsessed with her.

The two of us were going to talk soon.

I didn’t want to push Jenna, but neither of us were crazy about this arrangement or constantly saying goodbye.

I didn’t care if we hadn’t been together that long.

I didn’t want to be away from her anymore.

I took a slug from my bottle of water and looked at my phone.

Jenna hadn’t answered the text I’d sent an hour ago, and she hadn’t answered her phone when I’d tried to call her before leaving my office.

I frowned. That was unusual behavior for her.
