Violet gasped softly and when I looked up, I could see her gaze fixed on my cock. It seemed to be committed to making an escape, more and more of it pushing past the cotton barrier of my underwear to greet her. Clearly, he was as happy to see Violet as I was.
“Um.” She took a calming breath. “You, uh, it looks like the horse has escaped the barn there, Robbie.”
Slowly she lowered my leg, very carefully avoiding looking at my face. Or my wayward dick.
When Violet returned to her computer, I quickly tucked everything back into place and sat up.
“I’m sorry, that wasn’t intentional.”
She waved a hand dismissively.
“You’d be surprised what I see working in this field.”
White hot jealousy filled me. “Other dudes get erections when you’re working on them?”
Her gaze shot to mine, assessing. “Yeah, it happens naturally sometimes.”
I ground my teeth, knowing I had no right to be jealous. Knowing that it wasn’t like she was sleeping with them anyway. But that didn’t keep me from wanting to demand a list of every man who’d popped a boner in this office so I could go eviscerate them. Slowly.
“Okay, well, that’s it for today,” she said.
“What do you think?”
“Well, I haven’t seen your x-rays or anything, but the good news is that other than what I’m sure is the beginning of arthritis in that joint, there appears to be no structural damage. That means whatever is happening is in the muscles and ligaments, which is something we can work with.”
“That’s good.”
The team physios had said the same thing but none of their standard treatments seemed to help the problem. Hopefully Violet had something different up her sleeve.
“I’m going to email you some exercises and an ice and heat protocol I want you to try along with an anti-inflammatory diet, and then we’ll dig deeper when you come back for your next appointment. I’ll see you three times a week when you’re in town.”
“Sounds good. So, you still want me to come here to your office?”
“Yeah, there’s no way I’m working on you at the stadium.”
“But sometimes you work off-site with athletes, right?”
I was confused by her vehemence about seeing me here. We often had visiting medical people at the stadium, so I knew it was pretty common. This was about something more than her busy schedule.
“I only work off-site with athletes in places where I’ll be treated as a professional. As long as my father is your coach, that won’t happen at the Cougar stadium.”
Her eyes flashed with annoyance, reminding me how beautiful she looked when she was angry. I was smart enough to keep my mouth shut about that though.
“Also, I prefer to work here with my own equipment and my team around me.”
She started for the door, and I hopped off the table, cutting her off. She looked at me impatiently while I worked through a sudden nervousness.
“Can we have dinner or something?” I asked. “To catch up?”
“There’s nothing to catch up on. We knew each other long ago, and now we don’t know each other at all.”
I touched her shoulder gently. “Now that you’ve finally heard my side of the story about what happened with that girl, the least you can do is have dinner with me.”
“No, the least I can do is treat your injury, which I’m doing against my better instincts,” she snapped. “It doesn’t matter if you cheated on me or not, not after all this time. The past is in the past. I don’t want to revisit it. Any of it.”
I sighed. “You always were stubborn.”
Her eyes blazed with annoyance. “And you always were an asshole.”
