We stayed like that for a few minutes, my now-soft dick still deep inside her, and I kissed along the back of her shoulders. After a few minutes I moved to standing, lifting Dawn into my arms and carrying her into the bedroom bridal style. The second time we made love it was slow and sensual and intimate. I stared into Dawn’s eyes as we both reached orgasm, then cuddled her close.

As we drifted off to sleep, I kissed her on the top of the head, whispering, “I love you.”

And when Dawn sleepily whispered, “I love you too”, I knew everything would work out.

“Mom. How are you feeling?”

I looked up tiredly as Chloe came into the room.

“Not bad.” I nodded at the tiny bundle in my arms. “Chloe, meet your sister Ava.”

Baby Ava was born the week before Christmas, blessedly healthy, and screaming her lungs out. She looked just like Chloe at that age.

“Aw, you named her after Grandma? I love that.”

Chloe had been close with my mother before she died. My daughter stepped towards the bed, looking at her newborn sister with a look of awe. She rubbed one finger along the baby’s cheek.

“She’s so small.”

“She didn’t feel small when she was ripping her way out of my body,” I told her wryly. “Do you want to hold her?”

Chloe nodded. She carefully took her sister and sat in the chair that Griff vacated for her.

“She’s so sweet. Hi baby Ava, I’m your big sister, Chloe.”

Griff and I shared a look. He moved to the other side and slid into the bed next to me, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. I leaned my head against his wide chest.

We’d been inseparable since the night we got back together. He stayed at my house so much I’d eventually relented and let him move in, with the caveat that we were not going to get married. I made him promise not to ask me. He’d agreed, telling me to let him know when I was ready to take the next step.

The past six months with Griffin had gone great. We were truly partners in a way we hadn’t been when we were younger. We talked about everything, agreeing early on not to keep things from each other, even if they were hard to talk about.

He and Chloe had also grown close, talking every day, and taking long weekly hikes. He’d even taken her out a few times with his new motorcycle club, although he hadn’t been happy when she’d started dating one of their younger members. Fortunately, that hadn’t lasted too long. Their club might just be about riding, but that didn’t mean he wanted his daughter involved with it.

Looking around the room at my little family, I made a decision. Maybe it was the pain meds, but I suddenly wanted to make things official.

“Hey Chloe?”

My daughter looked up from staring at her little sister. “Yeah?”

“How would you feel about being my maid of honor?”

Griff stiffened next to me as Chloe’s eyes shot up to meet mine.

“You guys are getting married?”

I turned to look at Griffin. “If your father is okay with it.”

“I’ll go find the chaplain,” he said eagerly.

I laughed.

“Not right now, you idiot. How about we wait until I don’t feel like I was just split in two?”

“Whatever you want beautiful.” He squeezed me so tight I squeaked.
