The feeling I’ve been chasing for two fucking years.
Not forcing it.
Not squeezing words out of myself until they sound dead.
Just...flowing.
The music is there.
And for the first time in a long time, so am I.
My phone buzzes on the desk.
Zymon.
I answer the video call.
His face fills the monitor, the image shaking slightly with every turn of the road. He’s riding in the passenger seat of a black SUV, city lights flashing across the windows.
“I just finished listening to the first track.”
I glance at him.
“And?”
He gives me a look.
“That’s the single.”
I raise an eyebrow.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” He shakes his head. “That shit is insane.”
A grin pulls at my mouth before I can stop it.
“Yeah, man.”
I turn back toward the monitor.
“I think it’s the one.”
She’s the one.
The thought slips through my head.
For once, I don’t argue with it.
Zymon watches me for a second.
“Let me hear the rest.”
“Thought you were coming here to hear them.”
“I am. I’m impatient.”
“That’s your problem.”
