The entire fucking lot of them.
I toss the phone onto the table next to where I’m sitting with an exasperated sigh.
It won’t be just us much longer and that fucks with my head.
Until now, Winter Storm has felt warm even when the damn snowstorm was happening. Ironically… it’s all because of her.
I lean back and drag a hand over my face.
Fuck.
I’m lost in my head thinking about not wanting tomorrow to come when the library doors open.
The scent of vanilla reaches me first.
Sweet.
Warm.
Her.
I don’t even have to look up to know it’s her.
“That’s my spot.
My eyes find her and I immediately have to fight a smile.
Because what the hell?
The woman is wearing a white silk robe, enormous winter boots, and her white-blonde hair is piled into a messy bun that somehow still looks perfect.
And her entire face is covered in brown shit.
She looks like a crazy person.
And somehow, she’s still fucking beautiful.
“What happened to you?”
Artemis blinks.
Her eyes narrow slightly as though she’s trying to figure out what I’m talking about.
Then she remembers.
“Oh.”
She touches one cheek, running her fingertips over the mask.
“Skincare.”
I look at her for another second.
“You look like you lost a fight with a toilet.”
Her eyes roll.
“How creative.”
