“Why the hell would you do that?”
“Because you weren’t moving fast enough.”
“So you threw a snowball at my head.”
“A small one.”
“That doesn’t make it better.”
“It got your attention, didn’t it?”
“You could have used words.”
“Are you fucking serious?”
He laughs.
The sound catches me completely off guard and does something strange to my insides. It’s low and rough, warmer than his voice has any right to be, and something inside my chest gives a strange little crack.
“I tried, you little snow demon.”
I blink confused.
Little snow demon?
Oh.
This man has officially lost his mind.
I open my mouth ready to throw insults his way but nothing comes out.
What is happening?
For the first time in my life, I have absolutely nothing to say.
He knows it, too. Damn it. He looks far too pleased with himself for catching me off guard, the faint curve of his mouth making it obvious he knows exactly what he’s done.
Oh, how I am starting to hate everything this imbecile does.
“You are unbelievably irritating.”
“I’ve heard that before.”
“I imagine you have.”
His mouth twitches as he fights another smile.
He steps closer, and I instinctively step back.
His eyebrow lifts, his gaze flicking to the space between us.
“You’re backing up.” His eyes meet mine. “Are you afraid, princess?”
“Afraid?” I scoff. “Please. You’re nothing to be afraid of, rap star.”
“Is that so?”
He steps closer.
