The woman turns, and the moonlight illuminates her face.
Honey-golden eyes. Obnoxiously big white coat. Perpetually irritated expression.
Yeah… that’s no bear.
What the hell is she doing out there?
I crouch slightly, peering through the glass like some fucking creep trying to get a better look.
The insane woman is holding her phone toward the sky while mumbling things I can’t hear from over here.
I watch her check the screen.
Nothing.
She raises the phone again.
Still nothing.
She then moves a few steps to the left, checks again, then lifts the damn thing higher as if she can intimidate the weather into cooperating.
Ah… she’s trying to get a signal.
At nearly midnight.
In the middle of this freezing weather.
Fucking insane.
After another failed attempt, she kicks at the snow and climbs onto a stone planter.
I blink.
Is she out of her goddamn mind?
Behind her, her guard looks like a woman mentally reviewing every decision that led her to become the bodyguard of a wealthy snow demon.
They exchange a few words. Artemis shakes her head, turns back to her phone, and stretches it toward the sky again.
Nothing.
She rises onto her tiptoes, turns in a slow circle and checks the screen.
Nothing.
That’s when her shoulders finally slump.
Ha.
Universe: one.
Arrogant Princess: zero.
Her guard says something else, gesturing toward the mansion but the stubborn brat shakes her head and points at her phone as if she’s incredibly annoyed with the thing.
I can’t hear a damn thing through the glass, but I don’t need to.
Her bodyguard is trying to get the insane heiress back inside before she freezes to death or breaks an ankle. Artemis, meanwhile, seems prepared to challenge nature, technology, and basic common sense before admitting defeat.
