“You kidnapped me!”

“We saved you from marrying that pig. You’re welcome, by the way.”

Well, I can’t argue with that.

“Yes, but you still kidnapped me, so if you’re expecting a thank you, there won’t be any.” I fold my arms in front of my chest. “Where are you taking me, and what are you going to do?”

“We’ll take you somewhere safe for now. Just sit back and relax.”

Relax? I just got taken. How the hell am I going to sit back and relax?

“I’d be more relaxed if you took that mask off.”

“Only if you take that dress off first.” His honey-dipped voice makes it sound like he is flirting.

“Not a chance,” I huff.

“I think I’ll be able to change your mind.” I know he is smiling under his mask, and I want nothing more than to wipe that grin off his face even before he continues taunting me. “Matter of fact, I think I’ll have you out of that dress and screaming my name before you know it.”

“Have fun trying,” I quip, unable to hold my tongue.

“Oh, don’t worry, baby. I will.”

Question is, will I?

JAX

What the fuck did we get ourselves into? Yes, we planned this. We went in there knowing we were going to leave with her. The part I didn’t plan for was her being so… sassy.

Patrick has been boasting about his virgin bride around town. We figured this was the perfect time to take something from him, to finally get revenge for what he did to us. I know he doesn’t actually care for her; he only wants her for her beauty and innocence. He wants her as a prize, to show her off as his perfect little trophy wife. And I get why.

Even with this ugly off-white dress straight out of the eighties, she is hands down the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.

Crossing her arms in front of her chest, she tips her chin up in defiance. “Where are you taking me?” Her question sounds more like a demand, making my lips curl up into a smirk under this stupid, itchy mask.

“Don’t worry about that. Just know you’ll be safe there.”

“I don’t travel without Wiggles, my Kindle, or my blanket,” she quips. “So if I’m supposed to stay somewhere overnight, we have to drive by my house first.”

“What the fuck is a Wiggle?” I ask, dumbfounded.

She scoffs at me like she is offended that I would even ask such a thing.

“Wiggles is not a what! He is my guinea pig, and I am not going anywhere without him! Besides, I need my blanket to sleep, and my Kindle to finish the book I started this morning. I will literally not sleep without it.”

“You do realize that we are kidnapping you, right?” Mark asks from the front of the van.

“You do realize that if I don’t sleep, I will be incredibly cranky.”

“Noted,” Mark quips.

“I guess we could make a quick stop,” I suggest, feeling the urge to make her happy.

“The fuck we are,” Mark snaps. “That’s the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard.”

“No one is going to be there for a while. The cops are going to get statements from everyone before letting them go,” I point out.
