“Leaving me, is that so?” He continued in the same tone, and I tried to move away but he pulled me back onto his lap. His grip was unyielding. “Why?”

“Maybe I’ll get tired of you, I don’t know…”

“You’ll get tired of me, is that so? And I’ll just allow that?”

If he repeated everything I said in such a scary tone, I couldn’t make any plans.

“I have free will, you know. I don’t need your permission.” I tried to sound playful, but he wasn’t laughing. The intensity in his gaze had grown.

“Free will, right…” He tilted my chin up and drew me closer, his grip firm beneath my jaw. “One day… I’ll strip you of your free will, Mina.”

I smiled. A forced one, my face contorted. “It’s not possible, Remi.”

“Then I’ll make it possible. You’ll have nowhere to escape.”

Without saying another word, he kept staring at me. I closed my slightly parted lips, swallowing.

“I was just joking. Why are you so serious?”

“I’m not.”

“You are. You’re scaring me.”

He smiled, but the warmth never reached his eyes.

“You’re scaring me as well. What do you mean by break-up…?”

“Well… if you tell me what’s on your mind from now…”

“It fills with inappropriate scenes. Are you sure you want to know?”

“I do.”

He swallowed. I could see him starting to think. Well, this was more interesting. If I forced his mind to think about sexual things, what would he think of first?

“I imagine you begging me.” he said it in such a flat voice that my jaw went slack. “Your soft hands are tied, your damn free will is nowhere to be seen. A collar around your neck, your mouth is open, your eyes rolled, and I…”

“Okay, okay! I get it!” she shouted, her face bright red.

He leaned closer, a damned sly smirk on his face. “Still want to know what’s on my mind?”

“You’re changing the point. If you think something ridiculous like not deserving me, just share it with me.”

“Bernova once said I don’t deserve you.”

My head snapped up.

Angelica?

“I was very angry at that time, but maybe she was right. Lately, I’ve started to believe more and more that I don’t deserve you.”

“Remi…” For the first time in my life, I didn’t know what to say. Maybe I should’ve comforted him, but I couldn’t.

Eli said it.

I frowned. “Where did you know her from?”

As the car stopped, he scooped me up. Being carried like a princess pleased me, but not getting an answer was annoying.
