Alaska Lights

One month later

It’s been the best month of my entire life. Helios and I got married two weeks ago. Legally.

I’m officially Alaska Athanatos. I have a last name. I belong to him.

“Where is he?” I grumble as I wait at the bar with Soren, Glenn, and Lorcan.

Lorcan is in his human form, flirting with anyone and everyone who passes him by.

“He will be here. You two are mated and married. He isn’t going to stand you up. Plus, remember, Lyra said she was giving him a makeover for tonight,” Soren informs.

We’re all at a new club in Anchorage called Melt. Since it took us so long to get here, we decided to stay in town for a few days, so we aren’t in a hurry.

Soren and Glenn will head back to take care of the ranch. Helios and I are starting our honeymoon early. After a few days here, we’re going to visit Kentucky and Oklahoma before we head off to Greece.

I’m going to meet the rest of his family, who couldn’t make it to the wedding.

Holy shit.

I have a family.

“Hey. You don’t really think he wouldn’t show up to his own celebration, do you? He loves you, Alaska. The days of being abandoned are over.” Glenn nudges his elbow into my side.

“Can I buy you a drink, handsome?”

I sip the beer and glance down at a man with bright blue hair and a mesh crop top. He has heavy eyeliner and lip gloss that glistens around the straw he is toying with between his lips.

I lift my hand, showing off the hand-carved wooden wedding band. I made Leo one too. “Married and waiting on my husband. Good luck out there, though.”

He pouts and takes a step forward, invading my space.

I don’t like my space invaded.

I growl low in my throat, preparing to rip the fucking blue right out of his hair, when Lorcan steps between us.

“He might be married, but I’m not. How about you come dance with me, cutie?” Lorcan doesn’t wait for the guy to answer and drags him to the dance floor, safely away from me.

Soren lowers his voice so only I can hear him. “You can’t growl and show your eyes like that. We have to be careful. Remember, hunters are around. It’s only a matter of time before another one comes here. I know you aren’t exactly social, but remember, we can’t give ourselves away.”

I take a large swallow of beer, wishing it were a warm pint of my mate’s blood.

Fuck. I can’t wait to see him. I hate being away from Leo. He’s spent all day with his sister, and I love her. She’s an amazing in-law to have. It’s been a privilege to watch her and Leo interact. She truly is his best friend.

Behind me, of course.

“Fine. I’ll be more careful. I’m nervous. I haven’t ever been to a club like this, and there are a lot of people. A lot of hearts beating. It’s a lot.”

My senses are overwhelmed.

It’s why socializing is so important for vampires. The noise, the smell of blood, the beats of healthy hearts—it can be a lot for the senses. Leo seems like a damn professional. He acts like he is the one who is two-hundred-and-forty-years old while I’m the rookie vampire.

The air shifts. Leo’s sweet honey scent is a perfume I’d recognize anywhere. I inhale, turning my body towards the club’s entrance.

The crowd parts for the pair, and both of them turn heads. Lyra is beautiful. That’s impossible not to notice.

“Fucking hell. He’s stunning,” I say out loud, knowing he can hear me.

He smirks, practically sauntering his way to me. He is wearing a black crop top that shows the handles of his hips I like to grab onto while I’m fucking him from the back.
