Alaska Lights

Alaska peers up at the odd mausoleum made of roots. “I wanted to die where I originally found you. It only seemed fitting to hole up here where the start of my happiness began.”

I press a hand to my head, a low throb forming between my eyes.

“You’re hungry. You need to eat.”

Faster than he or I thought possible, I have Alaska on his back. My vision tunnels to the pulse on the side of his neck, the blood rushing under his skin. My mouth waters.

My mating mark is on one side, and now that I’m a vampire too, when I brush my fingers over it, a small buzz swims through my veins.

“Helios?” Alaska cups the side of my neck.

Hunger turns me into someone I don’t recognize. I don’t care that I died. I don’t care if I’m a vampire. The only thing I care about is sinking my fangs into my mate’s neck. All I want, all I crave is him.

I strike, not having a fucking clue what I’m doing. All I know is I have to follow what my body is telling me. These fangs slice into his skin, and blood flows over my tongue. I groan, pinning his arms above his head while I gulp him down.

Alaska curses under his breath, “Fuck.”

I don’t know what’s gotten into me. Logically, I should be dead. Alaska should be explaining what happened to me like I’m a child and teaching me how to be a vampire, but none of that matters to the logical side of me.

Only this.

Only him.

The feelings overwhelm me. The new sensations. The new emotions. The urges. Everything feels like it’s multiplied by millions. I can’t control myself. Not when it comes to Alaska. My mate. He was so sad. I still feel the sorrow in his soul, how deep it runs, how devastated he was when he thought I died.

I rock against him, our cocks rubbing against one another through our jeans. Alaska’s moan fills the makeshift cave he created.

His blood is better than anything I’ve ever had. It’s the finest champagne slipping down my throat, giving me a buzz that has me losing track of how much I’m taking from him.

I’m lightheaded, drowsy, getting lost in his emotions the more I take. The more blood I consume, the stronger our bond becomes. I squeeze my eyes shut, relieved I get eternity with him instead of death.

“Fuck, Helios. Take all you need, Beloved. I love knowing I can feed you now. Only me. No one else’s blood will do.” He growls, and the liquid bounces across my tongue from the vibrations.

Knowing only we can sate one another’s hunger gives our relationship a whole new level of intimacy. I knew my blood was the only blood Alaska could drink, and now it’s the same for me. I love knowing that we can’t be without each other.

I grip onto him harder, digging my fangs into him more, hoping, wishing the scar I leave behind is bigger than the last.

He’s mine.

And I feel more territorial than ever now that I’m a vampire.

Is this what he feels like every day? This uncontrollable need to be under his skin, his bones becoming my bones, his heart beating for mine.

God, I really can’t get close enough.

I reach between us and unzip my pants, freeing my cock before I work on his zipper.

When I reach into his jeans, his shaft is wet and sticky. I rip my mouth away from the delicious meal his blood provided me and lift my hand in the air, his come clinging to my fingers.

“You came?” The growl in my voice is new and startles me for a split second.

“You bit,” he explains simply, his eyes burning with desire like mine.

“I like that my bite does that to you.” I lick my fingers clean, his salty flavor pooling in my stomach with his blood, creating the best cocktail.

I sling my filthy shirt off, and Alaska’s hand touches my side where the fatal wound was. Then he drags it to my flat stomach and sits up, wrapping an arm around my waist.

“I thought I lost you both.” Sadness frowns his eyes, his fingers tracing the edge of my collarbone.
