“There’s a building about a hundred yards in the back. Two bodies inside, four standing outside.”

“That’s them.”

I move to run toward the fence line, but Mateo grabs my shoulder, and I round on him.

“If we fuck this up, she dies,” he says evenly. “So we’re not fucking this up. We have to kill quietly, so we don’t tip this asshole off because we don’t need him killing her and escaping again. It ends here, Carson.”

I swallow and crack my neck.

“Quiet,” I agree, and bring the com to my mouth so I can speak to our men. “Stealth mission. Quiet as possible. No one lives to see another day. Teams report.”

We listen as each team confirms, and then, with a nod, we move.

Since we can’t go in the way I want to, with guns blazing and raining hellfire, it takes longer than I’m comfortable with because fuck knows what that twisted piece of shit is doing to my wife right now.

But Mateo’s right. I can’t risk that he won’t kill her as soon as he hears the gunfire.

So, we’re methodical in our attack, making our way around the property, taking out the army as quietly as possible.

And it’s pretty fucking quiet.

Our men deserve raises.

As my brothers lead the teams to finish with the perimeter, I take Leo with me to get to my girl. With Spider out, Leo is acting as my second, and he’s damn good.

We encounter two men about fifty yards from the building holding Rina, and we quickly neutralize them and make our way, running low, to what looks like an old garage.

Four fuckers on the outside meet their makers, and I move to the window so I can get eyes on what’s happening inside.

The window is dirty as shit, but I can see Rina still in the chair, soaked to the bone, her head hanging back and chest heaving.

Damien paces back and forth, pulling at his hair, and I can hear him screaming, and that’s all I need.

No other men are here to help him.

It’s over.

I turn to whisper to Leo.

“Go get my brothers. I’m going in alone.”

Leo nods, and then he’s gone, and I circle to the door and don’t bother knocking.

Damien spins to see who it is, and when he finds me here, he raises the gun I didn’t see in his hand. His eyes are wild.

Rina’s sputtering and gasping, and I see the hose abandoned on the floor.

“You’ve been waterboarding my wife.” My voice is lethal. Low. And his eyes shift.

Because he knows he’s about to die.

“You found me early,” he says, trying to regain composure.

“If you thought I’d wait another day to get my wife back, you’re a complete moron.” I take a step toward him, ignoring his gun. “Oh wait.”

I grin, and Damien’s face goes red with anger.

“Even a new face can’t hide that flush you get whenever you’re mad or embarrassed,” I comment as I circle the room, trying to get myself between him and Rina. I don’t look at her because if I do, I might fucking fall apart.
