“When we leave, I’ll send the officer standing guard in here and you’ll tell him that you wrecked the hotel room. That you were angry about some woman blowing you off and that you trashed the room yourself. Say you’ll pay for any damages the hotel assesses. Make it believable and don’t get angry or upset, otherwise they will involuntarily commit you. Understood?”

“Yeah, I hear you.”

“Good luck, Mr. Daniels.” Ten opened the door and walked out into the hallway.

Ronan followed behind Tennyson wondering if Delilah had heard any of the apology and if she did, what she thought of it.

“Delilah heard every word.” Ten grinned. “She was standing behind you while you spoke to Daniels. She doesn’t forgive him, but she did agree not to attack him again and she’ll be at our house tomorrow afternoon when school gets out to speak with us and Aurora.”

“Can’t ask for more than that.” Ronan wrapped his arm around Ten and walked toward the emergency room’s exit.

He didn’t blame Delilah one bit for what she’d done to Daniels. From what Ronan saw, the man had gotten off easy. He wondered if the damage she had caused was enough to help her find her way into the light or if more payback would be required.

If anyone could help Delilah into the light to find peace it was Ten and Everly. Possibly Aurora in this case, as well. He would do whatever he could to help.

Ten stood in his kitchen scooping chocolate chip cookie dough onto a baking sheet. Ronan, Fitz, and Jude were due at any minute and the kids would be home from school only a short while later. After Ten made an enchilada casserole in the crockpot for dinner, he’d decided to make cookies.

“Something smells good!” Ronan called from the front door. He walked into the kitchen seconds later and leaned over Ten’s shoulder. “Enchiladas and cookies? Must be my lucky day!”

“You’re married to me. Every day is your lucky day.” Ten laughed at the doubtful look on Ronan’s face.

“I’ve got an update about Jeremy Daniels,” Fitzgibbon said as he walked into the kitchen. He lifted the crockpot lid and Ten could see he was practically drooling.

“I made enough for everyone, Fitz.”

“Thank goodness. I’m not in the mood to cook.”

It was on the tip of Ten’s tongue to remind Fitz that he was never in the mood to cook, but held his words back. Fitz had been through enough lately. “What’s the update on Daniels?”

“Apparently he did what Ronan asked and told the cops he had wrecked the room himself. The hospital discharged him, he paid the hotel for the damages and Cisco dropped the charges against him. Daniels made his flight back to Virginia this morning.”

“I’ll get with him in a few days to talk about having Delilah exhumed and cremated,” Ten said.

“What happens after that?” Fitzgibbon asked, looking nervous.

“I figured we’d leave it up to Aurora to pick out an urn and plot at the cemetery. Then we can have a little funeral for Delilah and lay her properly to rest.”

Fitz nodded. “Good plan. I’ll pay whatever it costs, just email me the bill.”

“Cookies!” Four excited voices shouted from the front door. Jude was the loudest among them.

“They just went into the oven, so you’ll have to wait a few minutes.” Ten looked over Cope, Jude, Everly and Aurora. “Where are Wolf, Lizzie, and Ezra?”

“With Kaye,” Cope said. “I asked her to take them for a bit so that we could have a quiet chat with Delilah without a WWE wrestling match breaking out in the living room.”

“Sorry about that. Ezra’s been a bit active lately.” It wasn’t so much that Ezra was active, but loved to play fight with anyone willing to take him on.

“I’m not worried about Ezra,” Jude laughed. “Lizzie’s the one you’ve got to watch out for. She fights dirty.”

“Gee, I wonder where she learned that?” Cope rolled his eyes.

“Before we get started,” Ronan began. “I’ve got a little information I want to pass along.”

Everyone gathered around the table. “What did you find out?” Fitz asked.
