Goldie gasps and claps her hands in excitement, breaking me out of my thoughts. “Oh! Let’s all go shopping together!”
“Didn’t you just say you already bought a dress?” Her boyfriend lifts his brows in confusion as Goldie rolls her eyes right back at him.
Both Annie and Lettie make plans to go shopping soon, and I can’t wait to see my Lettie dressed up for the event. I wasn’t particularly looking forward to the holiday party, but knowing Lettie will be on my arm that night, I am now.
After dinner, we end up playing a game, and it feels very couple-ly for lack of a better word. I’m not complaining about that. I know Lettie and I are not actually together, but tonight feels so natural. Everything is easier with her. I want more nights like this.
Annie lets out a massive yawn, and Goldie and Bryce quickly dismiss themselves.
“Bye, Sebastian. Bye, Annie,” Lettie says while standing up from the couch.
“Hey, you’re leaving too?” Annie questions.
“Yeah, I have a busy day tomorrow. But thank you for hosting. This was fun,” Lettie says, her words genuine.
“We’ll have to do this again,” Annie mentions as Lettie agrees and then steps out of their condo and leaves.
I’m now the lone man here, so I quickly bid my goodbyes as well, hoping that I catch Lettie before she leaves the complex completely, if she does.
I rush out of Sebastian’s place and hit the elevator button. I peek around the corner, but this floor is empty.
Damn. My heart sinks, and a deflated sigh escapes my lips.
The elevator dings and the doors slide open. My eyes are glued to the floor, but as soon as I lift my head, all I see is Scarlett in the elevator, waiting for me.
My heart thumps and happiness fills my chest.
“Hey,” she says shyly.
“Hey,” I return. “Going somewhere?” My lips twitch in the corner.
She shrugs. “Nah. Just riding the elevator for fun.”
I step into the elevator, press the button for the top floor, and stand beside her, a few inches from her body.
“So, you’re going to be my date for the holiday party?” I bump my shoulder against hers.
“Mm-hmm. Guess so,” she returns.
“I’m going to kill it on the dance floor.”
“That so?”
“Yup. And I’m going to be super needy. Probably will want a slow dance or two.”
She turns her body to mine, moves in tight, and wraps both hands around my neck. “I can manage that.”
“That so?” I say, mimicking her words. I clinch my hands around her waist. “We should practice.”
The elevator dings, interrupting any reply from Lettie, and we break away.
“My place still okay?” I ask.
“Lead the way.”

As soon as I shut the door, Lettie tugs on my white button-down and pulls me closer to her. Our mouths are inches away, and I close the gap, fusing my mouth to hers.
