“Cassian?”
He opened a door and motioned for me to go inside.
I looked from him to the room. “What is this?”
“Get in.”
“Nigga, I’m not—”
“Shakaylen.”
The way he said my name made me cut my eyes at his ass.
“Get. In.”
I sucked my teeth and walked inside. The second I did, he stepped back and closed the door. Then I heard the lock.
My eyes widened.
Oh, this motherfucker had lost his damn mind.
“Cassian!” I rushed toward the door and grabbed the handle. “Let me the fuck out!”
“Nah.”
I banged my palm against the door. “Open this fucking door!”
“Stay yo’ ass in there until you learn how to fucking listen. I see now I gotta treat you like a damn kid because your ass hardheaded as fuck.”
“Fuck you!” I yelled, banging on the door again. “This is fucking kidnapping!”
“Nah.” His voice came through the other side, calm as hell. “Kidnapping is what was about to happen to yo’ ass if I hadn’t pulled up when I did.”
My hand froze against the door, and for a second, I didn’t say shit.
Because as much as I hated to admit it, my mind immediately went back to that black SUV creeping beside me.
Still, fuck him.
“LET ME OUT, CASSIAN!”
I didn’t hear him say anything else from the other side of the door, so I figured he had finally walked off and left me alone.
I took a deep breath and walked over to the little bed he had sitting in the corner before sitting down on the edge of it.
This whole situation was a fucking nightmare, and I was ready to go the hell home. I wanted my own bed, my own space, and my regular-ass life back.
But from the way shit was looking, that wasn’t happening anytime soon. And that alone was starting to piss me off all over again.
Her ass didn’t motherfuckin’ listen. I’d stepped out to handle some business, and the garage alert hit my phone while I was gone. When I got back and saw she wasn’t in the house, I headed toward the main road looking for her. I told her hardheaded ass to stay fucking still, and what did she do? The exact opposite. Now she had some nigga following her.
I still didn’t know who the nigga in that SUV was, but I wasn’t about to wait for him to try again.
Once I got back to my room, I pulled my phone from my pocket and pulled up the number for one of the younger niggas I’d been training. It was the middle of the night, so I already knew his ass was probably sleep, but I didn’t give a damn. If he wanted to work for me, he needed to get used to shit happening at all hours. This wasn’t no nine-to-five where you got to clock out and ignore everything until the next morning. When a client needed you, your ass needed to be ready.
After a few rings, his groggy-ass voice came through the phone.
“Yo, Boss Man. Everything good?”
