The two-story house had a mixture of stone and light-colored walls, with black trim around the windows and a dark roof that gave the whole place a masculine look. Warm lights shone against the stone and perfectly kept yard, while smaller lights lined the walkway. Bushes, flowers, and a couple of small trees surrounded the front of the house, and all that shit looked way too perfect for him to be out there maintaining it himself.
My eyes moved toward the black garage doors before going back to the house.
“This where you live?” I asked, looking over at him.
“Yeah.”
I looked back at the house and shook my head. From the way this nigga carried himself, I shouldn’t have been surprised, but damn.
His shit was nice.
He got out of the truck and came around to my side. Before I could even think about getting out on my own, he opened the door, undid my seat belt, and threw my ass right back over his shoulder.
“You do know I can walk, right?” I asked, rolling my eyes even though he couldn’t see me.
“I know.”
“Then put me down.”
“Nah. I don’t trust yo’ ass.”
I opened my mouth to argue but closed it right back. He had me there.
I didn’t know where the hell I was, but that damn sure wasn’t going to stop me from trying to run if I got the chance.
He carried me to the front door, unlocked it, and stepped inside before finally setting me back on my feet. The second I was down, he turned around and locked the door.
The inside was just as nice as the outside. Everything had a dark, masculine feel to it, with black and deep-brown furniture, warm lighting, and hardwood floors running throughout the open space. A big sectional sat in the living room facing a wall-mounted TV with a fireplace underneath it, and tall windows stretched along the back of the room.
His kitchen sat off to the side with dark cabinets, a huge island, and stainless-steel appliances that looked expensive as hell.
I glanced around a little more, taking in the few pieces of artwork on the walls and how clean everything was. There wasn't a bunch of unnecessary shit sitting around either. Everything seemed to have a place, and judging by how neat his house was, this nigga either stayed on top of his shit or had somebody coming in here to do it for him.
Either way, his house was nice as fuck.
As I continued looking around, I heard him punching numbers into something behind me.
I spun around, but by the time I did, he was already finished.
“Shit,” I cursed under my breath.
I had been hoping to catch the code. If this nigga went to sleep tonight, I needed to know how to get my ass up out of here.
“Yeah, yo’ ass thought you were slick, didn’t you?” he asked with a low laugh.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I sucked my teeth and rolled my eyes.
“Right.” He nodded, still laughing. “Come on so I can get you to your room.”
I took a deep breath and followed him upstairs. As we walked down the hallway, I looked around and noticed something I hadn’t seen downstairs either.
Pictures. There weren’t any. No pictures of him. No parents, no siblings, and no family vacations. Nothing.
“Why don’t you have any pictures of yourself or your family?”
“Why the hell you asking me so many questions?” he asked without looking back at me.
“Rude.” I sucked my teeth.
