“You!” she shot back without missing a beat.
I raised an eyebrow. “No, the hell you not.”
“Yes, I am. You ain’t my fucking daddy.”
“At least not yet.”
The corner of her mouth lifted as I licked my lips, letting my eyes travel over her again.
“Excuse you?” She folded her arms across her chest and cocked her head to the side.
“You heard me.”
She didn’t say anything for a minute. Just stood there staring at me like she was trying to decide whether she wanted to cuss me out again or slap the shit out of me.
“Now, come on.” I turned and started walking.
I made it a few steps before realizing I didn’t hear her heels clicking against the floor behind me.
I stopped. When I looked back, shorty hadn’t moved a fucking inch. She was still standing in the same spot with her arms crossed, staring at me like I’d lost my damn mind.
Yeah, I could already tell she was going to be a handful.
“Aye, ma.” I turned completely toward her. “You gone come on, or I’ma have to make you come?”
“I’m not going nowhere with you. I don’t even fucking know you.”
“Shit, I don’t know you either, but I bought yo’ ass.” I shrugged, giving her the same attitude she was giving me.
“You didn’t have to buy me.”
“You right. I didn’t.”
I walked back over to her and stopped directly in front of her.
“I could’ve sat my ass right there and let that old nigga who was bidding on you take you instead.”
Her expression shifted slightly, but she didn’t say anything.
“You wanna know what would’ve happened?” I asked.
She stared up at me.
“That motherfucker has a reputation when it comes to women. The young ones especially. He gets them around him, and before long, his sons and whoever else he got around get to take turns with them too.”
Her face twisted. “Excuse you?”
“You heard me.”
For the first time since she’d walked out, she didn’t have some smart ass response ready. But it didn’t last long.
Her eyes narrowed. “And how the hell do I know you won’t do the same damn thing?”
I held her stare. “Because I’m not that type of nigga.”
“I don’t know that.” She shrugged.
“You right. You don’t.” I gave her a slow nod. “But I can show you better than I can tell you.”
