Here he went with that baby mama shit again. I had already told him to stop calling me that, but Cassian was going to do whatever the hell he wanted. Hardheaded ass.
“Hey.” I gave him a little wave.
“How dinner go with your mama and sister?” he asked, sitting on the edge of my bed.
“It went good. We ate, laughed, and talked about a little bit of everything. We even talked about you.”
“Me?” He raised an eyebrow. “What y'all had to say about me?”
“My mama wanted to know how you were treating me, and then she got all in my business asking if we were sleeping together.”
He chuckled. “And what you tell her?”
“Nothing. I wasn't about to sit there discussing my sex life with my mama.”
“Aight, bet.” He nodded, looking me over for a second before changing the subject. “Y'all save a nigga some food?”
“Yeah, I fixed you a plate. It's in the refrigerator with the rest of the leftovers.”
“Good looking, ma. I'm finna take me a shower, then go downstairs and eat.”
“Alright.”
“You gone come down there and keep your man some company?”
I sucked my teeth. “Boy, why do you keep calling yourself my man? And while we at it, why you still calling me baby mama?”
“I already told you why I call you that, shorty.”
“Whatever, Cassian.”
He laughed, clearly enjoying himself.
I shook my head and turned my attention back to my phone. Once he realized I wasn't about to entertain him anymore, he got up and headed toward the door.
“I'll see you downstairs, ma.”
“Alright.”
After he left, I stayed in my room for a few minutes before deciding to head downstairs. I could've stayed right where I was, but I wasn't doing anything besides scrolling through my phone. Besides, I was starting to enjoy having Cassian around, even if his ass did get on my nerves sometimes.
I was sitting at the kitchen island when he finally came downstairs, wearing a pair of sweatpants and no shirt. My eyes went straight to his chest before I could stop myself. Between his tattoos and the way he was built, that man was something serious. I wasn't about to sit there and pretend otherwise.
“What, ma?” he asked when he caught me looking. “Why you staring at me?”
“No reason.” I looked away.
“Uh-huh.” He chuckled as he walked toward the refrigerator. “Let me find out you wanna fuck me again.”
“Oh, boy. Get over yourself.”
“Why don't you help me?”
I shook my head and picked up my phone. I wasn't about to give him anything else to work with. Cassian already knew he was fine, and the last thing I needed was to make his head any bigger.
“That's what I thought,” he said.
“Cassian, get your food and shut the hell up.”
