“I don't know. I figured you was gonna start telling me what I could and couldn't do.”

Cassian laughed. “You already told me what you doing tomorrow. Ain't no point in us sitting here arguing about it.”

“Well, I'm glad you understand.”

“Yeah, aight.” He shook his head, smiling a little.

I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't help laughing. I was still pissed off about Courtney, and I knew going to work tomorrow was going to be awkward as hell. But I wasn't about to let that nigga or his uncle run me away from a job I'd worked too damn hard to get.

After we finished talking, Cassian got up and started clearing the dishes from the island. I grabbed my plate and got up to take it to the sink, but he held his hand out.

“Give me that, ma. I got it.”

“Cassian, I can take my own plate to the sink.”

“I ain't say you couldn't.”

“Then why you telling me to give it to you?”

“Because I'm already cleaning up. Damn, you argue about everything?”

I laughed and handed him the plate. “You the one always trying to tell somebody what to do.”

“And you the one always got something to say back.”

“Whatever.”

He laughed and went back to cleaning up while I leaned against the counter. I wasn't going to lie, seeing this big ass man in the kitchen washing dishes wasn't a bad sight. Especially with how good he looked.

“What you looking at, ma?”

“Nothing.”

“Uh-huh.”

“Boy, don't start.”

He laughed. “I ain't said nothing.”

“You ain't gotta say nothing. I already know you.”

“You sure about that?”

I looked over at him. “What that supposed to mean?”

“Nothing. Just asking.”

I shook my head. “You get on my damn nerves.”

“Yeah, you told me that already.”

Once he finished cleaning up, he dried his hands and turned toward me.

“You finna go upstairs?”

“I don't know yet. Why?”

“I'm about to find something to watch. You can come chill if you want.”
