“Somebody working at that dental office has been in contact with David. Marlin's been looking into it.”
“Okay, so who is it?”
“Courtney.”
I stared at him. “Courtney?”
“Yeah, ma.”
“Courtney that works with me?”
“That's the one.”
“Cassian, what the fuck does Courtney have to do with David?”
“He's his nephew.”
I sat there looking at him, trying to figure out if I'd heard him correctly.
“His fucking nephew?”
“Yeah.”
“Are you serious right now?”
“Do I look like I'm playing?”
I shook my head. Out of everybody at that damn office, I would've never guessed Courtney was related to David. Not his messy ass. The same nigga who had been sitting up in my business all day.
“So, how do you know he's giving David information about me?”
“Marlin confirmed they're related. He also found out they've been communicating around the same times Courtney's been looking at the schedules at your job. We're still figuring out exactly what he's been telling him.”
I sat back and tried to think about everything Courtney had said to me earlier.
“That motherfucker.”
Cassian looked at me. “What happened?”
“He was asking me about you today.”
“What he ask?”
“He wanted to know if I had a man. Then he started talking about how he'd been seeing that black car bringing me back and forth to work.”
Cassian stopped eating. “He been asking about the car?”
“Yeah. Talking about some, let him find out I got a rich man. But Courtney always in somebody's damn business, so I ain't think nothing of it.”
“What you tell him?”
“I told him to leave me the hell alone. What you think I told him?”
He nodded. “Aight.”
“Cassian, I don't even like Courtney like that. He always got something to say, and half the time I don't feel like being bothered with his ass.”
“Good thing you ain't told him nothing.”
