“Exactly. And I don’t care that he has female friends. I mean, I don’t know any of them, but if his aunt or somebody came and visited him, I wouldn’t make a big deal out of it.”

Rochelle took a sip from her glass before setting it down on the glass coffee table. I followed suit, drinking almost half of my glass before pulling it from my lips. The liquor burned all the way down my throat, warming my chest, but I needed this burn bad.

“Girl, you know what that means. He's doing something he doesn't have any business doing. I’m telling you, when they get mad over little shit, sometimes it’s because it’s their own guilt that be eating their ass up.”

“That’s true.”

I rolled the glass between my palms, watching the ice slide around inside. I hated that what Rochelle was saying made sense and that my relationship with Caine was starting to line up in ways I didn't want to acknowledge. I never actually had proof of Caine stepping out and he always seemed too damn busy to juggle two bitches at once.

“What you need to do is what I did to my baby daddy when I suspected he was doing shit.”

I looked over at her. “What is that?”

“I put a tracker in his car. Look, I was tired of wondering if he was fucking around on me, so I put a tracker in and followed his ass to every address that I wasn’t familiar with.”

My eyebrows lifted.

“You did what?”

Rochelle laughed, pouring more rosé into her glass.

“Girl, don't look at me like that. I was tired of playing detective without the damn evidence.”

“What kind of tracker was it?”

“An AirTag. That’s the easiest way. It’s the smallest and most compact thing you could put in his car, and you’ll know exactly where he’s going.”

She said it so casually that for a second I just stared at her.

I took another sip, letting the alcohol sit on my tongue, and then nodded because she had put me on game that I didn’t know I needed.

“That’s something to think about, friend. I’ll definitely have to do that when I go home tomorrow.”

Rochelle gave me a knowing look but didn't say anything. She reached over, grabbed the bottle, and topped off my glass before filling hers.

“You know, friend, there is something that I heard a few days ago from one of my clients that I wanted to tell you, but I also didn’t want to get in your business too much, and she told me it was supposed to be a secret.”

The way she said it made me look up.

Rochelle shifted against the couch, pulling the robe tighter around her body. Her eyes dropped to her glass, then back to me.

“Really? What is that?”

“I mean, I don’t want to be messy, and I sure as hell don’t want Caine coming into my shop checking my ass.”

“Girl, what is it?”

I smirked, but there wasn't much humor behind it.

“Promise me you won’t say where it came from? I just think you need to know because that nigga is trying to flip the script on you, and I don’t like that.”

“So, what is it?”

Rochelle hesitated, then finally blurted it out.

“Girl, I heard that Caine got my client’s close cousin Isis pregnant, and she’s due soon. She must’ve not known we were cool because she said he cheated on his wife and made this baby, but she didn’t know who his wife is.”

Everything in me went still as Rochelle leaned closer.
