Why had she come to this abandoned room in the first place?
An alarm bell rang inside my head, so I pulled myself free and backed away.
“I'm not leaving until we've talked and you've told me what you're up to.”
Julie sighed and shook her head frantically. It was as if she were the old Julie again. Or something between the old and the new.
“Come on. We can talk after the next lecture.”
No. I wasn't going to wait and risk my neck again just to talk to her. Now was the perfect moment.
“Please...” she whispered in desperation.
I heard a knock at the door and froze, my heartbeat quickening.
Julie’s eyes widened and she turned her head.
Next, everything happened way too fast. Julie pushed me backward, and I almost lost my balance, tripped over something wooden, and crashed hard into a wall. It was a cabinet. And the next moment, everything went dark.
What the...
Had Julie Blair just locked me in a cabinet?
I let my transformation begin, felt my claws painfully grow out of my nail beds, and was about to tear the closet to pieces with pure violence, but I paused when a familiar voice reached my ears.
“Oh, I thought I was late.”
“Bayla...” Julie replied in an unsteady voice, and I tried to peer through the thin crack.
She was meeting with Bayla?
Of course, that annoying Adams girl wouldn’t follow the rules. What did I expect?
I suppressed a sigh, retracted my claws, grimacing in pain, and tried to see more.
Bayla closed the door and hurried to a table to put down her brown leather backpack.
“I have to tell you something. It's about Julian.”
My eyes widened and my heart began to beat faster.
Had Bayla lied to me and actually knew something about his whereabouts after all?
“Are you sure you don't want to tell me later?” Julie laughed with unnatural uncertainty, and even Bayla looked up as if she realized something was wrong.
The door swung open again, making me flinch and distracting Bayla.
Lucky me.
But when I saw who entered the room, my heart completely skipped a beat.
I spotted Larissa, together with Miles.
With my heart pounding, I pressed my hand over my mouth so I wouldn't make any stupid noises.
“You look so hot, girl!” Larissa blurted out to Julie.
As always, she was wearing black jeans, paired with a leather jacket and a tight top underneath.
